Thanks for the advise on keeping the donor, but I'm almost 100% there will be nothing else needed. The only thing left of it is a shell, leaf springs, front upper control arms, and brake lines. Everything else was stripped out and is being stored. you have a garage, therefore storage space. at least try to pull that windsheild for a spare.

Is my frankenmotor dying?
the_wizard_of_fire replied to the_wizard_of_fire's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
4.0 six, 4X4, full guages, with an auto tranny. Squeegy: it acts like the same shudder, and what i diddnt say was that its not just rough idle (though my idle IS pretty crappy) its when i rev the engine when its in park. Shelby: no codes at all, at least no dash lights. i don't have access to a code reader to see if its got one, and just isnt telling me... Dasbull: I'm not at all positive what the block is out of. i know he said it was a cherokee, and the 91' 4.0 oil filter does not fit. -
flatbed pros/cons?
the_wizard_of_fire replied to batafish22's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
not sure about texas, but in washington, if they total it, you can but it back for salvage, fix it, and get a state patrol safety inspection done on it. if it passes, you will get a salvaged vehicle title. which meand someone probly won't buy it. but you won't sell, so who cares. but i agree with the estamate idea. also, make sure they take into account all the custom stuff you have done. (lift, bumpers, winch, ext.) -
ive got a 91 eliminator with an odd engine issue.... when i go uphill, or get on the freeway, i get a really bad shudder from the engine on acceleration. it only lasts while i have the throttle about halfway, if i let up, or floor it, it stops. also I'm 90% sure its not a tranny or DW issue, because ive gotten it to shudder like this idling in park. WTF could cause this. also, i refer to it as a frankenmotor, because i THINK its a renix block, with 91' chrystler everything else, as when i biught it, P.O. told me the engine was from an 86'? cherokee, but in being here, ive learned that motor would have been an AMC Renix, yet it has chrystler fuel injection, but the oil filter for the chrystler-produced engines doesnt fit, and i have to go back in years till it changes. so i guess the second part of this post is; WTF did the P.O. do? :huh???:

quite often with new rivets you will have inspection/registration problems, becase they can tell the tag has been changed. DOL doesnt like it when you mess with VIN tags.... :shake:

Comanche rear wheel opening
the_wizard_of_fire replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
plus if you take the quarter skins and replace your wheel well openings, then you can use XJ fender flares W/O modification... -
so.... she gets an MJ on her sweet 16, yes?

I have no idea why it looks that way, the Jeep doesn't lean, somehow its an optical illusion. no, it is leaning. but its because the driver weight, and the fact that the box on top is on the drivers side pushes down that side. if the box had been all the way to the pass side, (depending on whats in it, and how much you weigh) it would balance out.

I hope they don't put any on, actually...mine are going in my rear bumper. i beleive they stated that you would provide the lights, they just cut the holes, so you can make them whatever you want to be  see: "So what am I getting at? I am considering developing HD Tail light boxes for MJ's and doing a group buy on them. Price wise, you would be looking around $145 for a pair (you source the lights)." -brimy311, first post
