This whole thread is asinine in that it apparently stems from asking which is better for doing a burnout, a diesel or a gasoline vehicle. If you would like to talk qualitatively and quantitatively about diesel VS gasoline vehicles we can do that, in fact there's nothing more I like than doing that. But if you just wanna jerk-off watching a burnout video on youtube then I ain't down for that.

Well since a couple of people told you they like it I'll chime in. I fuggin hate it.

Yes paint in garage. It's called a clean title, texas is the only state I know of that arbitrarily sets colors for titles that mean nothing to everyone outside of texas.

Hmm, haven't updated in awhile: New hatch: WJ Dana 30.....and the big brakes that will go on my XJ: Hatch again: This is me fighting to get the old gears and carrier out: New hatch: WJ Dana 30.....and the big brakes that will go on my XJ: Hatch again: Then I spent more time than I should have fighting the old windshield to get it cut out, and after much glass and much cleanup I got it cutout and got to the jacking: So its mostly jacked back into place, going to do a little more, then I'm going to think about going and getting a new windshield to size up and make sure my jacking is good, then when thats all good go ahead and glue it in.

You do know the JK Rubicon axle is very different than the TJ Rubicon axle right? Aside from the gears I don't think anything will interchange between them. yes I was referring to gears as what the subject matter was. Ok, and rear gears only too.

You do know the JK Rubicon axle is very different than the TJ Rubicon axle right? Aside from the gears I don't think anything will interchange between them. Hence the problem, Rubicons already have 4.10s in the rear, and you can't install those into a non rubicon rear. 44 fronts are only sold with 4.10s, so either you have 4.10s, or you can't use them. Explains why I always see JK 4.10s from rubicons for sale for $50 on craigslist with no takers.
-
Do you know if the JK rubi and TJ rubi share the same type of thick cut gear? I know the stock TJ rubi 4.10s will fit another D44 if it has the 3.92 or [numerically] smaller carrier. I don't *think* they do. I also don't think you can put rubi JK 4.10s into the non rubi D44 rear either. But it's been so long since I've read up on all that I'm not sure.

I don't think you can use the JK rear gearing in a XJ housing.
-
Crap, wasn't there on wed when I was. It have a 44 rear?
-
Whats the front and rear out of? The waggy D44 is a fairly desirable axle for a number of people. Expect a value from $150-$250 for the front alone, complete. Waggy rear, maybe $150 if you get lucky and find someone who wants it. The XJ 44 rear is worth 300-400 around here. I would not take anything less than $300 on CL for a 44 rear, MJ probably about $250. HP F150 D44, maybe $300-400.

This one is not a real deal, and is the modified CJ10, you can tell by looking at the back corners of the door frame at the cab, the CJ10/CJ7 with world top have the sharp corners, the CJ7/guacho have the rounded corners. Look at the pics to see what I mean, thats always a dead giveaway.
-
If time wasn't an issue I would tell you to look into a JK D44 front, you can find them from $500-1000 around the country if you keep an eye out.

Bathroom explosion.

Looks like a CJ10 with a CJ 7 grill and fenders, with a chevy bed. I was thinking about something similar at one point.

well here is an  just get a few solar panels to provide you juice and get some electric blankets so that you have a heated floor under the jeep a layer of vinyl over the blanket in case of spills then cover the rest of the bottom open areas with a shower curtain and magnets to limit the cold air from getting under vehicle and the temp should rise to about workable conditions. All is needed is a few batteries, power inverter and some additional solar panels heck with the money gets good get wind power too  but it just might work  then I'd have to sweep/shovel the roof, since it's the only thing around the shop that gets direct sunlight. next... Drink copious amounts of alcohol so you feel warm. Install lift over a hottub?

Wow two hours worth of work on a project? Sweet. I haven't touched mine in 1.5 YEARS. It would be nice to have 2 hours of free time to do what I want two every night.

Need T/C for 4x4 swap behind an nv3550
Sir Sam replied to gaucho919's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The mount is the same between the AX15 and the NV3550 XJ's, but there is a plate that bolts to the bottom of the transmission and that then bolts to the tranny mount, that is different than the ax15 plate, either make your own or consider buying that part new from Jeep. I did not use that part in my application because with my engine swap my tranny sits back ~4" from where it is supposed to be. -
Crap I think I might have another now!

i know how you feel. This I picked up to fix and flip. I'm going to go bail my ex-room mate out and pick up his jeep out of impound for impound and tow costs...keep it off his credit, gives me another lifted 97 to fix quick and sell. I'm honestly thinking of quitting my job to do this...I hate my job, I like working on jeeps. if I can get myself ahead of the game, it may pan out. the problem here is winters....need heated concreted garage to work on stuff in the winter, and I don't have that... Well I'm in that position right now, no job just flipping Jeeps. It's not so great. When you don't have anything to flip you are tearing your hair out looking for something, then when you finally get something you can't seem to work fast enough to get it repaired and sold. Then there's the selling, I hate the selling, I hate being "on", I hate having to smile and meet people and deal with all that, if every buyer was like me then it would be fine, but there are WAY too many tire kickers out there. I would like a steady income, so that I can come home and just work on the projects I want to work on, like my CRD MJ. I'm sore, I'm tired, my hands hurt, and if I'm lucky I will be able to sell a Jeep before the end of the month bills. Part of me thinks like you, if I could just get ahead a little I would be much better off, and could maybe keep on top of things. Best deal I ever saw was a 6 month old Mercedes that sold for $65,000, it needed about 10-15k in parts(passenger side seat was stolen, rear @$$ portion of the seat was stolen, front and rear bumpers were missing, and it had been keyed, replace those and give it a full repaint, and it would have been a 110k car. I'm a long ways off from having 80k to throw at a car to make 30k profit on it, but that would be sweet.
-
Crap I only have 8.5. Also, not so many deals to be had in my area, too much stuff thats a good deal gets picked up before I can even load the ad.
-
Around here I think you could get closer to 3k for it with the lift. In any case, nice flip, shouldn't be too much work. I wish I could find deals like that once a week.
