  1. Yes, 50% of the tread height must be covered. Willy
  2. Got a start on the brackets for the rear bumper/shackle mount. Willy
  3. Finally found it. Finding things on Delicious has become a PITA. JB Custom Fabrication. Willy
  4. I like the sound of that....although I'm sure it will be a crapload of work. :wrench: Willy
  5. Why do you need go to the welding supply shop? Willy
  6. No, you won't even notice it unless you are looking for it. Our blue MJ was originally maroon and you'd have to shine a flashlight between the cab and the bed to see. Willy
  7. Why are you concerned about painting something that won't be seen? Willy
  8. Yes, so far it has worked much better. I just hate that it has the crimped on plastic sides. I'll run it until it starts to leak then hopefully I'll be able to find a full metal single row radiator. Willy
  9. Progress from the past couple of weekends. Test fitting. New mounts for the rear bed bolts. Cleaning up the areas to be welded. Replacing the rear cross member with 6" C channel. Starting to tack the pieces back together. I don't think anybody is going to mistake me for someone in auto body repair, but I think it will work for my needs. Willy
  10. It's not like it is going to explode as soon as you put it in low range. Just use your head while wheeling. Will things eventually break? Of course, but that is no different than any other part of the rig. I've broken plenty of shafts and a ring gear and wouldn't hesitate running 35s on a D30 again. Willy
  11. I think this is going to work out pretty well. This will put the shackle hanger at the bottom of the bumper and the shackle will end up being the rearmost part of the vehicle. Willy
  12. No offense, but I can't stand red on any vehicle....besides Ferraris. Plus, I already have a red MJ. I'm planning on staying with blue on this one. I think a flat blue in about the same shade would look pretty nice, and keep the lower quarters black. Willy
  13. I plan to paint the entire truck at some point..... Willy
  14. Time to chop the bed. Ended up taking out 17". Still have a lot of work to do to get everything to match up, but we did toss the rear on just to get an idea of what we would end up with. Willy
  15. For those that subscribe to 4 Wheel Parts' Off Road Adventures magazine, check out the article starting on page 14. You may recognize the MJ in a couple of those pics. Willy
  16. I may end up selling the bumper. I'm still not certain what I am going to do for the rear bumper, but it does look like I am probably going to end up building another one. Willy
  17. Exactly. But, I have a plan that I hope will end up working. :D Willy
  18. No, I have another bed that is in better shape that will be bobbed for it. I still want a full bodied rig with a bed, not a truggy. Willy
  19. Time for a few changes I've been thinking about way too long. Good bye old bed. Time to break out a recent tool purchase. Good bye excess overhang. Willy
  20. Your just jealous that you don't get the awesome Peugeot transmission and extra vacuum lines. :P My condolences for your grandfather. Willy
