  1. Would you let me know what shipping would be to 01030? I still need it. Thanks to the previous post, but after I take it all apart, I may as well replace it anyway. If it was just dirty I'll have a spare. Thanks guys.
  2. I need a driver's side seat belt. Out of the blue the other day when I took it off it wouldn't retract, so now it just hangs there. I'd really prefer black if anyone has one. Thanks, Jim
  3. I don't really have pics of it working, but here's some of what it has hauled... all of this recently, all of this. Also both axles, trans, engine and transfer case, from an FSJ bark mulch, leaves, lawnmowers That thing is a work horse....2.5l, 5 spd too. I do have to downshift on hills with a load, but it gets me & the load there every time, could'nt live without it!!!!!
  4. I've tried searching this forum for replacing the windshield wiper motor and can't find anything. I know I've seen a write up with pics in the past couple of years, but i can't find it. Can anyone steer me in the right direction please? The wipers on my 86 Comanche work fine, then in a driving rain (of corse) STOP, then after a bit start again. It's awesome trying to see thrugh the rain. Thanks guys! Jim
  5. Martini...Gin Martini...shaken, not stirred !
  6. Thanks guys, I know pics would help. I was just trying to get a ballpark figure. I had a line on a 4x4 and have some cash available, if I added $ from the Comanche I could get a rough amount. Talked to the guy today and he says he's going to want around $1000.00. I'm probly going to pass. It's a 9? Toyota 4cyl, AT, larger cab. If my truck was 4x4, I wouldn't even think of selling it.
  7. I may have a chance to sell my truck to a local guy who's been asking, and I need cash. What do you guys think is a fair price? It's an 86 Comanche, 4 cyl. 5spd. 2 wheel drive, 107,000 miles. The body is really solid, old tires. But it runs & drives reall good. What do you guys think?
  8. If the CPS is failing, is that an electrical component? Because I had to be jumped to get it started, and all of the radio presetts were gone. Could the CPS drain the battery? I hope I don't have an electrical Gremlin...I park it about 15' away from my J-10, and that has a few Gremlins, hope it's not close enough for them to jump to the Comanche!!!
  9. Ummmm, I guess I assumed it had the switch, tried to start it in neutral with no clutch and....it started. :dunce: I always push in the clutch when I start a standard shift anyway, just a habit. Anywho, what the heck is a CPS?
  10. The other day after work the truck would'nt start...nothing. I got jumped, fine got home, shut it off & restarted a couple of times. Let it sit a day, tried it again, started up. Seems to be ok now. But not trustable. I've noticed lately I've had to push it the clutch harder for it to start. I'm wondering if that switch were you need to press the clutch to start it could be causing battery drain. It must be electrical because it has to over-ride the ignition??? Am I thinking in the right direction maybe? Jim
  11. Anyone here affected by the tornado? Quite a rare event here. We were lucky here in Feeding Hills, it went past about a mile or so north of our house, and continued thrugh W. Springfield, Springfield, E. Longmeadow & Monson. There was considerable damage in it's path.
  12. Did you steal my Jeep & remove the bed liner???? Nice find! Mine is all the same with power steering, and the bed liner. It had 97,000 on it, bought it from my best friend for $250.00. It has 108,000 on it so far, it's my daily driver. It was supposed to be a cary over till I got my 76 J-10 back on the road, but even if I get enough money to fix the J-10, I'll probly keep the Comanche, it's a great little truck.
  13. Not trying to hijack the post, but what about wipers that work fine...sometimes....then stop mid swipe, only to start again? 86 Comanche just on off & 2nd speed wipers.

Do you have a black drivers side one for sale? What do you need $ to ship to 01030?

    W.MA. armrest

Looking for a driver's side armrest for an 86...it's the short and sweet version. Mine is sagging because the rear plastic "support" broke.
  17. Pete, did you build that shelf??? That's cool. I have a CB, and a 2meter HAM. That would be a great place to mount both. If you did build it would you post more pics.?
  18. I'm getting no warm air from the truck. In the past, the heat was fine. I can change it from heat to defrost. When I change it from cold to hot there is no "noise" like it used to do like when a diverter door opened or shut. Also all hoses get hot except for this one by the heater and the lower radiator hose. It has a new radiator, all new hoses. I ran water through the heater core...both ways, and it flowed freely. I don't see any vacuum lines that are broken. Maybe something behind the dash? Does anyone have suggestions? It's getting pretty cold here in MA. By the way, it's an 86, 2.5liter. Thanks, Jim :???:
  19. That's pretty awesome. I have a Sansa Fuse, and want to use it in the truck, but my radio doesn't have the jack for an MP3. :fs1:
  20. My truck is an 86. Is there a certain vacume hose you disconnected? All heat would be fine for the next 5 months! Also Pete, where would you jab the door from. Anyway to get my heat back...I'll figure it out in the spring :waving:
  21. When I got the truck I replaced the vacume canister and got heat. Then there was a blockage in the radiator, changed it got heat. Now that it's getting chilly here....no heat again. All the hoses are hot except one of the hetaer core's. I fludhed water thrugh that, no blockage. It seems like the little door isn't opening and closing when I go from hot to cold. You can usually hear a little soft pop. No pop! Always cold. Besides broken or disconnected vacume lines (seem to all be good) is there anything else that will suddenly make the door stop moving? Winter's comming soon!
  22. Charged the battery, replaced the altenator belt. Started it, and removed the positive battery cable to see if the alt. was good. The AAA guy said it wasn't charging. When I pulled off the cable it kept running. :hmm: I'm thinking I saved about $70.00+
  23. Hate to chime in when I can't help much but the PO of mine switched the driver's side with an opening window. I "think" it's done like a J-10. You remmove the stop at the bottom, gently let the window go to the bottom of the door. There should be screws/bolts mounting the window frame to the door. After they are out you should be able to pry the whole frame & vent back twords the rear, do a lot of wiggling and slide it up & out. I've replaced the vent on my J-10, and that's what I had to do. Your arms will not like you....you will probly be in the door up to your arm pit, no space & lots of places to get cut. Hope this helps a little.
  24. Does it count if I have no pics??? All the hard work my MJ has done, I took no pics of. It has hauled at least 15-20 loads of firewood. Five full loads of bark mulch I got free from work. At least 5 loads of scrap metal...axles, engine etc. It regularly hauls my lawnmower(s) 4-5 x a week. And the PO, a very good friend used it for LOTS of scrap metal runs. The little baby has hauled TONS & TONS ! It is a 2.5l 5spd with 105,000 on the clock. It's the toughest little truck Iv'e ever owend.
  25. I have a 1976 J-10. It's been off the road for 5 years. A couple of years ago a good buddy sold me my 86 MJ for $250.00 cause he said I needed a truck. 97,000 miles, 2WD 2.5l. 5 spd. He bought a new Comanche when they first came out, and always has 1 or 2 hagging around.
