  1. How do you remove them?
  2. 31"s will fit on a stock mj 4x4, but the 4x2 MJs sit lower (IIRC) and so there is no way IMHO that they will fit.
  3. Replaced the front wiring harness, problem fixed
  4. Just a tip from a guy in this industry, It gets to be more of a PIA to lay the smaller you get with something like this that has small lines, It's real easy for the lines to lay out of position if it pops off the masking.... Don't know that you want to go much smaller than that.
  5. Also, when it races, try unplugging the TPS to see if it calms down, if it calms down right away, there is your problem, it would either need to be adjusted and/or replaced. As Brent said, its probably the IAC. It could also be a MAT, MAP, or a CTS.
  6. Yeah, now I've replaced all sockets in the harness, something is askew in the harness and at this point it is probably easier and more worth my while to just change out the whole harness. Electrical is such a PIA :wall:
  7. yeah, the positive terminal was fried as was the first part of the wire going into it but farther back it was all ok.
  8. Mine is an early 90, manufactured in 10/89 actually, and Ive tracked the wires b4 and the socket attaches to a gray w/ black tracer instead of brown. So either the front wiring harness has been replaced at some point b/c there is no point along the way in the harness where there has been cutting/splicing or any soldering. Maybe Ill try to find another wiring harness with that change done (off a newer pre 97 XJ) already done to plug into the truck.
  9. A few months ago i had a problem where when my park/headlights were on the turn signal light would glow dim in the dash. Problem fixed with a new bulb. Now its back, but it's on the drivers side instead of the passenger side. So far I've replaced all bulbs and all sockets and its still there. the parking light will not blink when the turn signal is on but the side marker will, and when the parking lights are on the side marker light is much dimmer than the other side. Any ideas?
  10. new battery and terminals fixed the problem! :D
  11. I'm pretty sure its battery, Ill change it out today, probably not cables as it didn't have the problem b4 the jumper cables fried it.
  12. yeah, its a 2000 factory battery. Today was actually only the second time its given me a problem since I got the vehicle 5 years ago. :D Guess its about time to get a new battery.
  13. Looking into the racing seats shown here What needs to be done to put in a seatbelt female side in (isn't it attached to the bench seat) Id also like to keep the warning indicator working if possible. What is needed to install it on factory brackets? does the bar that goes across to make both sides move need to stay in? Any other modifications need to be done.
  14. No, I left in on my trickle for about 7 hours, I tried to use a vehicle to jump it but it obviously didn't turn out so well. But it could still be just a surface charge, as I don't have a Vat 40 to put it under load. Ill try it with the headlights on and see. One thing I noticed was that the charge guage was bouncing back and forth from pinned left (9>volts). The battery is still original so I'll probably replace it.
  15. Ill try leaving it at high RPM's for a few minutes tomorrow. I thought it was at full charge b/c with a multitester it read at about 12.5volts.
  16. Well this morning I went to start up the 97 and the battery was dead, So I pulled up the mj and used my brand new jumper cables to try and charge it up. About 5 seconds after plugging it in, the smoke started. i quickly unplugged it and checked, sure enough it had drained the whole battery. I went back and checked the jumper cables to find that it had a piece of insulation slit open allowing the + and - wires to cross. I was able to get the battery charged back up and everything was seemingly working. But would turn over but not fire up, I started feathering the throttle and it would start but it wouldn't idle, just shuts off when I let off the gas. The fact that it will stay on when the throttle is open makes me think either IAC or TPS, but what do I know. Any ideas???

  21. I was looking into getting the JCR prerunner bumper and wasn't sure if I should get side protection or not. I've never had a situation yet where I've needed protection in the 3 inches from the bumper to the wheel well but who knows. Do u guys think it is worth the hassle with having to trim fenders and extra cost to get the side protection? Thanks, James
  22. At first, after the new forum upgrade we were able to post pics strait from our computer to the forum, w/o having to host them on photobucket and then right out the url code. Its similar to the file attachments that the paying JF users can do on that forum to add pics. On the "new look" thread in the pub on the 5th post down jtdesigns used it but now his attachment just says [FLASH] and in the 6th post he said, "I like the file attachment though........" Now that feature disappeared...
  23. It was that feature when posting that you could attach pics to the post w/o using photobucket. It came at first with the forum update.
  24. What happened to the attachment thingy in the new forum style Pete?
  25. Front is all I need really. If the rear locks thats ok, but its no fun at all when the front tires lock.
