  1. One of the new guys we just hired told me to look at http://www.newegg.com for electronics and other stuff. They seem to be the cheapest site I have seen.

    ewwwww.....

Hypothetically speaking, the process of remediation of the soil is called Thermal Desorption. The contaminated dirt is loaded into a rotary kiln, it is heated (1000F or higher), and the petroleum products are then oxidized or incinerated separate from the soil. The clean soil is them stockpiled and used as base soil for road construction. If the process is done at the "Site," it is typically returned to the same location. In the Northeast, we typically do a lot of trash to steam incineration. If the soil went out in the trash and went to a trash to steam facility instead of a traditional landfill, the soil would be "clean enough" to pass a RCRA test for hydrocarbons. You as a "Homeowner" are excluded from the Hazardous waste regulations that corporations are required to follow. Basically you can throw anything in the trash. Your waste hauler can however enforce Hazardous waste regulations and not pick up your trash. This is a very fine line to follow. I know there are some facilities in Michigan for Hazardous waste, but you would be jumping through hoops to try and get a small quantity into a facility, let alone schedule a pickup. I don't know if there are any facilities that perform thermal desorption. You should be exempt from a Waste manifest, but you may have a tough time proving you are a Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator. Probably more information than you wanted, but a typical rule of thumb was 5 quarts of used oil can contaminate 1,000,000 gallons of clean water. Personally, I would have no issues in sending contaminated soil to a trash to steam plant- all of my trash goes there though the hauler.
  3. How about a closer option than MD. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/961276876.html. There is a guy in Delco with a Comanche for sale. It is listed as an 89 4x4 5-speed and running.
  4. I was just having a similar issue in my 96 Dakota. It wound up being clogged fuel screens on the fuel injectors. I would have hesitation, lean misfires, random cylinder misfires, and a check engine light (OBDII). I changed all electricals- Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Wires, Coil- no help. I changed the fuel pump since the regulator was bad- no help. When I pulled the first injector out, the screen was Black and 95% plugged. I went to http://www.mrinjector.us. I bought the 8 cylinder kit for $20.00. 1.5 hours later- engine runs like new.
  5. Muriatic acid (aka- Hydrochloric acid) is better at etching concrete than degreasing. Its an inorganic acid- Not flammable. The acid etch will aid in paint adhesion. It may degrease well but it also opens the "pores" in the concrete and makes it more susceptible to future staining. It can also be a "nasty" corrosive- if not handled correctly- skin burns, lung irritation, eye irritation. It is fun to watch the bubbling and reaction on concrete, it is also fun to watch reactions between acids and bases (Sodium bicarbonate/ Hydroxide.) A little bit of education can go a long way.
  6. When I was given my MJ (for free from a coworker) I replaced the MAP sensor tube (Mopar #53004589). It had an idle issue that he couldn't resolve. I also had a few vacuum leaks that I needed to fix. I used shrink tubing after aligning them together. The vacuum leaks fixed my Vent/ defroster operation. Another would be the IAC (Idle Air Control solenoid on the TB.
  7. Another person another opinion. I prefer Anti-Seize on most gaskets. If it is rubber- I prefer Food grade. On all others I use Bostik Never Seez.
  8. I am going to MD/ VA for vacation the first two weeks in August. My wife sprained her foot and is in a cast so long hikes are out this year. Can someone forward some web sites or recommend any areas to go off-road? We will be taking the XJ (her DD) and would like to stay on beginner/ easy trails if possible (Highway tires). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Xacto- I think your hit him with TMI orange. I'm not sure if the out of state people will understand.
  10. Being from Flyers country- you're killing my wife. I was given two tickets to Game 4. 20 rows off the ice, $150.00 each. A coworker gave them to me- he had tickets for the Phillies. Funny thing is- she rearranged her work schedule to go to the game. After this game, I head the standard response- If it is not the Flyers- Go Redwings.
  11. I picked up my MJ for free from a coworker and wanted a unique name. I work for a generic Pharmaceutical company. The old timers will recognize the drug Quaalude- marketed by Rorer with the number 714. One of the most famous generics for the drug (at least in the PA area) was the Lemmon 714. I always have a tough time trying to explain to people what I do in engineering. All I need to say to them is "We used to make Quaaludes- you know 714's." All of a sudden there is deafening silence and Can you still get me some? Just my way of keeping a sense of humor. The other choice would have been 70GeTXed for the 70 Plymouth GTX that is under construction.
  12. My coworker gave me a free 87 4.0 4wd auto a year ago. Last month he gave me a Factory Service Manual for an 86 Comanche. I was starting to wonder if someone had the 87 FSM and would trade for the 86. The other idea would be to copy and post the info in the DIY write ups section on this site.
  13. There were two choices in 96. The 42RE or 46RE. I am not sure if you needed a tow package for the 46RE. They did not use the AW4 in the Dakota.
