  1. This has been a long time coming, and many of these pics were posted in other tech and pub threads, but I thought I would put together the entire "Project" thread... if nothing else, just so I remember what I've done to the MJ... Here is the MJ as I bought it (in fact still in the seller's driveway) ... Craigslist - December 2007, Northern Cali 1989 MJ Pioneer, 4.0L, 4x4, 5 Spd, Rear D44 (stock w/ 3.07's), SWB, 205K Miles
  2. Actually not a smoker... I just like to burn stuff... hehehehe... I just want all the parts and pieces to work, even if I'm not going to use them...And Like I said, I'm bored silly and have no Cash!
  3. Center Dash Vent....Is there a non-Ghetto way to keep it facing up (or at lest not drooping all the way down). At the JY, I looked at some XJ Dash pieces and it looks like the center section is molded in there and not really (or easily) removable/replaceable. Cig Lighter... Mine doesn't stay popped it... if I hold it in, it gets hot, but it won't stay in to get hot on it's own and then pop out. a) Is this normal, B) In No, is that a problem with the lighter itself, or the pug? See I told you these were dumb questions, and I was embarrassed to call them "Tech"... I'm working on all the little piddly stuff that I can since I know the engine needs to be re-done and I now have a Front Axle Seal Leak (probably when I yanked the shafts when I did the ball joints). After spending a buttload of $$$ on my back yard, I'm pretty much tapped out and can only work on the 'cheap' stuff (like removing my Strips and messing with the interior stuff... )
  4. PM me if you would like a copy of photoshop. Paint dot Net is a GREAT little FREEWARE app that use all the time... I have used Photoshop at work and for a majority of the stuff I do Paint Dot Net kicks butt, is totaly free (You can Donate if you feel Guilty)... Totally SMOKES MS Paint and is pretty easy to use...did I mention it was free? http://www.getpaint.net/
  5. I agree...for some colors... In my case, White, with no stripes and no black molding and white flares, I think that's just TOO much White and there needs to be something alternate color (in this case black) somewhere... Just a personal preference. Sw2
  6. Well, that's at least a couple opinions that the Black Trim needs to go...maybe a job for next weekend... And I agree... the White Flares probably should get Blackified (Mine are kind of beat up so probably better replacing them... How hard of these to find? Another WTB Thread on the Classified Forum, or is there anyone selling new ones for not a crazy amount of $$$? Thanks for the Opinions and Ideas Guys... SW2
  7. Man, wish I had thought about that to start with... Slapped the Thing in my Dewalt Cordless, and 2 Full Batteries later, Drivers side was done...took about 15 minutes start to finish... I like it... Still not sure about the lower black trim piece though... SW2
  8. After waffling for a couple of weeks about whether or not I wanted to remove the Pioneer strips on my 89 MJ, I finally made a decision. I got about a 50/50 response on my other thread about whether they should stay or go, but since I'm the only one that has to look at it, I decided to go ahead and start today... First a couple observations... a 5 Gal Pancake, cheapy Harbor Freight Compressor CANNOT keep up with the Eraser Die Grinder thing... I was able wipe about 6 inches of sticker off and the grinder basically stopped turning because the compressor was out of steam, and it ran continuously. Maybe a good excuse to buy a bigger/better one. The "Ghosting" is minimal and basically I have just wiped off the tore up stripe and wiped with some Goo Gone...no rubbing compound or anything drastic. Looking at the pics below, what is the consensus on keeping or losing the lower black trim? The rear small Piece fell off (I have it still), but wanted to see if I should just remove em all or clean and reglue. Anyhow after about an hour or so, here is the Pass. Side done... It's about 90 degrees out, so I'm not sure if I will get the drivers side done or not.. Here is the BEFORE Picture for comparision and now...
  9. Not something that I'm real proud of (or have taken any pics of)... but it's cool to have a twin... I'm still torn on whether or not to pull the stripes off... I have the eraser die-grinder thing, but haven't sacked up and used it yet... I think I still want too, but not sure... My engine is pretty beat to crap, so I think the next "big" thing is a rebuild that I'm not really looking forward too.. I was thinking about flying JeepCoMJ out to Cali and have him help me drop a super charged 3800 out of a Grand Prix GTP to see how it rolls... or maybe just a clean rebuilt Jeep 4.0 for simplicity's sake... SW2
  10. Except for the gouge on the inside about the size of a coke can and it's full of rock and stuff that got stuck in there...
  11. ... and while I'm also not going to drive a Hummer... if you look at how much money Hummer donates to help support the Offroad community and help keep trails is quite amazing... especially when Jeep basically does nothing including doing basically zip to help support the likes of the Rubicon trail and surrounding areas, which they make millions using the name on one of their Trucks... I can't find the link right now, but my local Club had a big discussion about this just a few weeks ago... i'll see if I can find the link. Sw2
  12. That White Paint Job sure looks familiar... I wish my Tailgate looked that Nice... SW2
  13. Maybe a new Logo for the forum is in order?
  14. Happy B-Day...It's all downhill after 21... Our local Jeep dealership dropped out a few months ago... It was a Chrysler/Jeep/Volvo (which I always thought was odd) and they catered about 80% to the Volvo side. Not terribly sad since it was a crummy dealership (at least the service was so-so at best), but if I were in the market for a new Jeep I'd have to go over the Hill to San Jose now... I'm not in the market, so I guess I'll be OK
  15. Ran across this when browsing Jeep Forum... I'm not affiliated in any way, just thought there might be some interest because of the propensity of our MJ's to have a "little rust", at least for those of you not in California. http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=543173
  16. Rainy here today... I don't want to get my nice new hat Wet...
  17. I'd be happy to pitch in a few bucks for a non-free Forum Software version, something like Vbulletin... Wouldn't take many small donations to get the $170 or whatever for something non-free... :D
  18. I want to see you 69 SS.... Always been a dream car of mine... well actually a 68 SS RS, but that's just splitting hairs... SW2
  19. Mine came Saturday... Thanks Pete!
  20. Not many weeds before with the real grass, but they rolled out some weed barrier cloth under the rock base so it should be fine now...
  21. Sure, but NorCal is sure a good drive from NC...I did just get done smoking about 15 lbs of Pork shoulder for Pulled Pork... was in for just under 20 hours and is delicious, but being a California (Nebraska transplant), I probably don't get to call that "real" BBQ... Hopefully taking the TJ down this weekend to Pismo Beach to do some Sand Wheeling and Beach camping, so BBQ will have to happen after that...
  22. Didn't price Sod...this was about $3.70 Sq/Ft for just the product...I'm guessing quite a bit more than sod, but, no water, no mowing, 25 year warranty, no fading, no mowing, no mud, no mowing...
  23. They nailed it down every few inches with this 5"-6" nails (that they said they have never had pull up before). Laid the grass over about 4" of Gravel/Sand Mixture which was tamped down. The underside is a "weave" so water and stuff will go through just fine. The guy that installed it said it would drain NO WORSE than the crappy clay that my real was sitting on...They spread out some sand on top and then use a motorized metal bristle brush thing to "fluff" up the grass...
  24. If anyone cared...here is my finished installed Artificial lawn... I think it looks pretty nice...
  25. There was NEVER any question about that...
