Yeah, a 2wd 4cyl base model. My 1988 Laredo, which I have the original window sticker, was $17k IIRC. Besides, that's in 1990's dollars, this is 2010 my friend. To put it in perspective, a $15k MJ in 1992, the last year of the MJ, would cost you @$23,500 today. Or better yet, his truck priced at $15k today would have only cost you @$9500 in 1992. In 1992 the lowest base price MSRP for an MJ was $9200. That got you 4 wheels, a 4cyl motor, a seat, and not much more. So using your (il)logical approach, for only $300 more dollars in 1992 (or @$470 in todays dollars), you could go from a stripped 2wd fart box to an MJ with the following upgrades: custom heavy duty lift, stronger axles, 4 wheel disc brakes, stroked 6 cyl engine w/V8 horsepower, 35" wheel & tire set, "futuristic" interior 5yrs ahead of it's time, better electronics and engine management systems, custom stereo, AIR BAGS, and some other choice items. Oh, and guaranteed parts availability for years and years. You're right, a 1990s MJ was a much better deal. :fool:

something tells me Jr. probably owned that truck for about 5 minutes. he's a "good ole boy" for sure, but with his money I can't believe that's what he'd pay to have built. maybe it's from when he was 18 or early 20s. i mean, why would Jr mess with a Cheromanche? He'd either have a killer old CJ or a big Chevy in my opinion.

automan, wasn't there some confirmation that there were some factory built dually's? amc-mj, i believe it has been confirmed that the ones out there had dana44 rears. but, if they were available to anyone as a kit, one could just as easily have a d35 under there. i'm guessing those tires are probably 225/75/15s. my dream dually would have a d44 front, cut down dana60 out back, and a mbt4 diesel under the hood. 8)

there are a couple of people on here who have seriously thought about building a dually, but nobody has actually done it yet. sometime earlier this year a member on here found a source for the rear fenders. IIRC they were not specific to an MJ but were for small to mid size trucks and could be trimmed up to fit. that first dually pic has been on here several times, and except for the bumper guards being painted white, is probably the coolest MJ in my book.

Rootmoose, what you need is to find a Big Ton MJ, which will be a long bed, and set yourself up with something like in the picture of the attached thread. A gooseneck trailer with a truck camper mounted on the front and your car on the back! With the camper up front you should transfer a decent amount of weight to the back of the truck as payload. A Big Ton MJ has a GCVW of 9820lbs and a maximum trailer length of 25ft. The truck is about 3200lbs in stock form IIRC. That leaves you 6600lbs to play with, of which 5000lbs can be pulled. Your car weighs about 2800lbs, a small camper can be 1100-1500, and a gooseneck trailer to haul all of that will probably be 1500-2000lbs (hopefully ??). If your total weight of the loaded trailer is around 5700lbs +/-, and you probably would have 600-800lbs of that as hitch weight in the bed, you'd be pulling right at 5k lbs of trailer axle weight. That leaves you 700-800lbs of @$$ to put in the seats and stuff to put in the bed. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8989&p=253895#p253895

KBB and NADA should be nothing more than a VERY rough guide for a low production 20+ yr old vehicle, i.e. for someone that has no idea at all what base point for pricing should be. From there, IMO, to each his own as far was what they are willing to pay. IMO, that truck is worth a lot more than $2000. Yes, I'd agree that $4500 is a little on the high side (THAT is probably what most dealers would price it at, not $2k like KBB suggests), but considering he's including the parts to replace it's only real downfall, the Pukegoat tranny, that's an MJ with huge amount of life left in it. Just my nickels worth. 8)

Peters, Canonsburg, North Strabane, Donaldson's Crossroads, lol they are all the same. That is something I could never understand when I was there, in that area people could live across the street from each other and they would each say a different place. In fact, I am somewhat the same. When we were looking for houses, we were on this road (McMurray?) and we passed a sign that said Peters Township, so I thought that's where we were. We bought the house near there and the the street to the house was maybe a few hundred yards away from the sign. We go to close on the house, and the legal address is in North Stabane, but the mailing address is Canonsburg. Since I always thought it was Peters before I knew what it really was, for some reason I always just said the Peters Twp area. Weird.
