  1. nice rig man!!
  2. nice work man!! id love to get one of those back panels for behind the seat. in grey :D let me know if you can do it. (how much)
  3. ok, I'm really not a crack head and ive proven I'm not a math whizz 17 1/2" stock (from search) 23" re-measured tonight =5 1/2" also, the rear 20" stock (from search) 24 1/2" measured tonight =4 1/2 lift i just noticed in the new parking space tonight that the front looks a touch taller. ill have to get it on level ground to have a real good look. ill get a picture tomorrow. i may need new shakles.
  4. thanks jeff  I should have everything in this next week for the post lift stuff. Once i get all that done, i think ill take it somewhere to get the d/s extended a bit and get the u joints done. I'm lucky that its not my d/d. ive read on here how to do u-joints, just don't know if I'm up for that one. yet i like what tnt said about the yj slip yoke having more driveshaft angle before binding, so I'm getting one of those ordered before i take it in. when i bought the truck, the guy told me it was a 3" pixie lift. the coils came with that. when i put on the acos, it measured 3" of space between the top of the coil spring to the top of the acos, so when i measured the lift itself, from stock height, i still only have 4" of lift over all. it doesnt make sense to me as i should have 6" 3" coils + 3" acos = 6" but right now i measure 22 3/4" from center of hub to top of stock flare. i guess stock height is 17 1/2" I'm no math wizz but isnt that 4 1/4" of lift. i do have 4.5 coils coming ups next week, so ill probly change them out. i was thinking about leaving those in cause of the hassle changing the coils :D
  5. i should have my new adj lca's on tuesday as well as my new adj track bar. not driving to far til then. ive got some searching through posts to do as I'm not sure what a caster angle is quite yet, but i think it should be addressed :D i also have some cheesy drop down sway bar brackets coming that I'm sure ill end up replacing with something that looks better and won't catch. thanks for the heads up though.
  6. here she is
  7. it does seem like alot, ill take the d/s in once i get everything else done. i had a hell of a time getting getting the acos in. it was dark when i finished so no pictures til daylight. i put the truck on stands in the front then unbolted the shock and sway bar. after all that i put the coil spring compressors on and wrenched them down good and just worked the springs out then back on again with the acos. i wonder if i should have unbolted the lca or uca? i had a hell of a time. i put a scissor jack in between the lca and the frame to help push down a bit. not sure if that was a good thing or not, but it worked. I'm done working on it for the weekend. my adj lca's should be in as well as the track bar by tuesday. do you guys undo the trackbar or the lca's or uca's when you remove the coils?? ill put up some pictures tomorrow. I'm very happy with the way my mj sits now.
  8. how the heck did you do it in a half hour. it took me a half hour to get each spring back on.
  9. been busy this morning, got the rear soa done. wow, that pulled out of the transfer case alot, i think its alot anyway. wonder if thats normal???? should i not drive it and get the drive shaft extended? off to wash the dogs, then back to put the acos in. i bought some coil spring compressor things. hope it goes well. yea, i saw that. looks cool, much better than what i have now. I'm going to give it a try.
  10. got off work today and tore into the mj. ive only recieved the soa kit so it will look kind of funny for a few days. after doing the bolt on soa, i have this huge hunk of crap :headpop: hanging down below the axle. after i get done I'm going to take it to a shop and weld on the perches and use u-bolts instead. ill just have to figure out how to mount the shock stems. i hope that will work. ill take some pictures of it tomorrow. i only got one side done tonight, so ill start again in the morning. I'm really happy with the one side though. there was a 3" lift, so removed the AAL, i figure i will be at 5.5 thats the plan, i might get to it this weekend while i wait for parts. i wonder if i can get rid of all the vacuum hoses?
  11. thanks guys, can't wait to get started! I posted a project, so I'll keep the progress there. Thanks again!
  12. hey, did you have welded on bump stop holders? I'm doing my acos tomorrow and was just wondering. mine is a 90 mj. in the instructions i printed it says same have them welded and some don't. just trying to figure out if it will be an easy project or not. :D
  13. Well ive been working on the mj so much, i figure i might as well show some of my handy work. lol I never realized how much fun working on cars could be. I bought the mj about a month ago for $500 for a neighbor that said he was tired of the nickel and diming he was going through. I got the best deal of my life!!! yea, i got a great price on it, at least i think i did, but I have discovered wrenching!!!! where has it been all my life. I get out of the house, the fiance doesnt want to hang outside on the ground under the truck. so i get all the time to myself drinkin beers and gettin dirty. So far, ive put in a new power steering pump, new rear spring and shackle bushings (red  ) i changed the vacuum switch on the transfer case (won't shift into four wheel) which didnt help. ive got a solution for this, but it will be after the lift. i can get it into 4x4, it just requires getting out of the truck this weekend ill be installing the SOA and next week will be the front rustys kit that i piece milled together. yea, these are the red poly bushings i don't like. right now there is a 3" lift w/28" radial tires, a d30 front and d35 rear 4.0L pretty much stock except the lift and bigger radials i have put a new stereo, amp, sub, and ipod Here is the 4.0L rebuilt out of a 90 xj
  14. wow!
  15. I'm new to the site and have learned alot hanging out here at the forum. You guys really have this truck figured. I bought the truck for $500 to send to our farm back home as a work truck. I learned the motor had been recently been rebuilt (3 months ago) new altinator, new radiator and new tires. I figured this would be great for a project. Plus i love driving it so much. so far, ive changed out the power steering pump, the rear spring and shackle bushings (not sure I'm down with the red poly though), new stereo, amp, and sub 4.0l-d30-d35-3" lift-stock other than the lift and tires really ive ordered, and should get tonight, a SOA from rocky road. i havnt heard great things about the bolt on soa, but i have to do it myself and no welder or much mechanical knowledge. next week, i hope, i will receive my ACOS adj. spring spacer, new 4.5 coils, adj LCA's, adj. trackbar, ss brake lines, sway bar drops. all from rustys. I'm going to see how it works without the UCA's. I'm going for 5.5" to 6.5" lift. I'm doing the rear this weekend and the front next weekend. thanks for all your posts that have helped me so far. wish me luck and feel free to give any advise.

  17. how tall is the truck now with the new lift? i can't wait to get started on mine. how much time did it take you guys, or should we calculate beers not time :brows:
  18. I'm attempting the same set up this weekend, i just ordered the ACOS this morning. i currently have a 3" lift so i think ill need to remove the aal. i also ordered the rocky road SOA bolt on. still trying to figure out where to get my LCA's I wish i knew some jeepaholics around here. You truck looks nice man!! did you use any shims?
  19. thanks for the diagram. I'm going to need it. i put the vacuum switch in today and nothing. ill wait til next week as I'm headed to hungry valley on saturday to do some wheelin. i got my power steering pump installed today. no major problems, just tightened the belt to tight so i got some knocking sound out of a pulley. loosened it up and everything is fine. I'm on the road to being a wrencher
  20. thanks guys  I'm learning so much lately, my brian is in overload. so you guys want to hear a good one? i picked up my new power steering pump today. i got home and started tearing into it. first, i start undoing bolts on the alternator thinking it would loosen the belt. i finally figured out the bolts for the belt are by the power steering pump. so i got the pump out and plugged the hoses so no crap got in there. here's the kicker. i rented a pulley puller to get the pulley off. well i look in the shaft and see a allen head in there. i think i have to take a bolt out to get the pulley off. i don't have a 3/8 allen head so i got to the parts store and buy one. i couldnt for the life of me get it to break loose. so i broke the pulley. i went back to the parts store and ordered a new pulley and returned the pulley puller. so I'm still trying to figure out how to get the bolt out. the guy ends up selling me a pulley puller, which at the time i thought would help me get the bolt out. i got home and started messing with it all. and a big LIGHT came on. son of a bioch if i didnt feel stupid. i pulled the broken pulley off (just because i could) and put everything away. i should have my new pulley on tomorrow so, now i have to figure out how to get the new one on without hammering it on. i should have just taken it to someone. i think its so cool that you guys can fix your own stuff.('') i figure if i keep messing i may someday know what I'm doing. its going to be a long road.
  21. yea, i went a little crazy at first. i also bought a new steering gear box that ill probly return. I'm very interested in bypassing the switch. how would i go about that and is it still ok to drive on the street if the axle disconnect is engaged all the time? right now to get it into 4x4 i have to put it in 4, then pull a vacuum hose off the acutator.
  22. Hey everyone, I just bought myself a jeep comanche two weeks ago. Ive been on this site a ton trying to firgure the thing out. what i know so far about the truck 1990 sport 4x4 4.0l-rebuilt 2 months ago (with paperwork!) D30 front D35 rear 3" pixie? lift in front-AAL rear 28x10.5x15 radials a few dents here and there-some minor rust on the floorboards and a dead mouse under the mat. still haven't removed it yet. I ordered a new power steering pump. (loud and leaky) 4x4 won't engage-looks to be a vacuum issue-ordered new vacuum switch-hope thats it!! i also ordered new suspension bushings for the front-the power steering leak destroyed alot of them and the rest are just really old. I'm glad i found this site, i appreciate all the info ive been able to find here. dan
  23. went to put the mj in 4x4 this morning and nothing. the light didnt come on, the front wasnt locked in. the wierd thing is, when i put it in low, the gears changed in the rear. it felt like i was in 4low, but no 4wd. :headpop: i just bought the mj, and love it. hope i can fix it. any help would be greatly appriciated, couldnt find anything in search.
