  1. ill check that out.. when i was on the phone with rustys, i thought they said "bend goes down with adjustment part towards the back. ill let ya know, i have a few questions for them today anyway.
  2. ohh the ball joint. cool man, thanks
  3. if the spring is installed, where do you place the angle finder thing?
  4. it looks like you guys are checking caster without the coil spring in. is that correct. and if so where do you put the degree finder if the coils are installed?
  5. thanks for the help twister  ill give it a try
  6. see this photo shows how the control arm twists because of the flex joint. don't mind the grease :D sometimes both arms will be flexed the same direction.
  7. so, when i installed these, there was a part inside of the joint that looked as though it would screw out. thats may be what i need to do then, is screw that out til its flush with the frame/mount. yea, the way it is right now, the control arms will move depending on how much pressure you apply, because of the "flex joint" they can move quite a bit from side to side if that makes any sense.
  8. you can adjust caster with adj lower control arms as well, right? i didnt know there were shims in there. sorry for high jacking the thread
  9. yea, they are tight. what is weird though, is the bends in the control arms will be pointing to the same side of the truck sometimes. damb death wobble. :headpop:
  10. you pulled a coil spring spacer(shim)?? what shim did you pull?
  11. I have Rustys lower adj control arms. this is the part i have mounted on the frame, then pointed the bend down. is there suppose to be that large gap?? It allows the lca to twist on a ball. The reason I'm asking is, i have a case of death wobble I'm trying to figure out. it seems that is letting the axle move alot and maybe contributing to the death wobble. ive read every article on death wobble, so i don't need help with that. just curious if i did something wrong with these lca's---bad install?? or just the way it works. newbie :D
  12. problem solved!!! its funny how one problem could be a variety of things. i have been dealing with a squeky belt for a few weeks now. ive replaced the belt, used a can of belt dressing and adjusted the tension. about two weeks ago i changed the power steering pump. well it dawned on me i didnt worry about how much i pushed the pully on. i went out and checked it out and ended up pushing it on another 1/4-1/2 inch. fng newbie mistake  when will this learning curve straighten out?????
  13. which one is the harmonic balancer? looking at the pulleys, the one with the fan on it looks like it is out a couple of notches.
  14. i have been having some serpentine belt issues. first off, reading some threads here, i have found the culprit to the sqeaking and figured out how to adjust tension. what i can't figure out is when i put the new belt on and tighten it, it starts moving to the side like its going to come off. if moves over 1 or 2 notches. then i loosen it and try again, to no avail. i can't find any thread on this. :headpop:
  15. cool idea! here is a good poser shot my last surfing photo

    Should I ?

looks like a cool project to me. don't you need a project??? :D
  18. Ive decided to take it back to them for the alignment. i can see that they were not at fault. I'm sure he was trying to recreate the death wobble i told him about. when he did, all hell probly broke loose and punctured the radiator. the front of the fan is awfully close to the radiator here is the hole caused by the front of the fan. I'm sure they were being straight now that i got the radiator off and can see what is going on. ill be getting it aligned tomorrow, as well as putting in the buckets and working on the e-brake extension bracket.
  19. yea, i came to the conclusion it wasnt the shop. when i pulled the radiator off, it has been hitting the fan. i believe when it has death wobble. not sure how else it could have happened.
  20. happy turkey day to all and to all a good night
  21. I'm not sure what is in the a/c but i know it was redone 2 years ago. if i had breathed it, i wonder what it would do?? not that i did. and yes freon is very bad for the o-zone and highly illegal to let go in the air. i can see where a newbie would think its part of the radiator an undo a line. yea, i don't think the radiator was messed with either. i told them about the death wobble thing, ill bet he went out to see if he could get it to do it and when it did, it probly punched the hole in the radiator.
  22. here is the hole it looks like the very front of the fan is hitting the radiator. how could he have moved the fan forward so much? revving it up? oh yea, is freon toxic? say i accidentally loosened a a/c condenser line and breathed it in. i didn't of course, just curious. dam newbie
  23. I'm pulling the radiator out this morning and am going to have a real good look at it. if something is fishy, I'm taking them the invoice for the new radiator and my time and am going to demand the money. lets say they were honest, what would cause a hole that big in such a short time???????
  24. this is what i was thinking, what would i have done if i didnt live 6 blockes away. they would have had me over the barrel. overall it just sucks that i went there for a alignment and then the radiator?? lets say that the quy was just driving it around the block and he was honest, what would cause a hole in the radiator that big in just a short time???????
  25. i ordered a new radiator from kragen last night for $150.00 ill be pulling out the radiator in about an hour, so I'm going to go over it with a fine toothed comb to try and figure out what caused it.
