  1. local napa here has it. I forget the tubeing sizes, but I know one side is bigger than the other.
  2. just don't store them vertical, you'll end up with flat spots.
  3. then check all of the fusible links at the starter relay. THen check the fuse box to make sure it's not deformed from brake luid from the clutch master if it's a 5spd.
  4. plan on replacing the rubber pieces of fuel line that connect the filter to the hard line. They're going to be really stuck on there, it's easier to replace than pull them from the filter. I tried reusing them once on my sundance, I ended up tearing them trying to get them off.
  5. last time I did it the pump was like $50. That was a reman pump with a new tensioner. I made the mistake of not doing the pump when I broke the timing belt the first itme. Then had to take the damned thing apart again when the pump was shot.
  6. I hauled some big block chevy cast heads about 400 miles. on broken rear springs to boot!
  7. yeah, sorry I didn't tell you all that. I had the head off of mine once. Here's a word of advice about the water pump. The tensioner is atached to the water pump and it is a total PITA to get the belt back onn because it gets stuck. EIther spray it with some wd-40 or replace the pump assy. Make sure you do the wd-40 lightly, and befoer the belt gets anywhere near th engine. I wiped down the belt tensioner pulley with some solvent afterwards just to make sure it was clean. I've done the timing belt on a 323 after I burned through a piston, and twice on the Escort. Tey were all the same. Stupid pulley. Honestly, if I ever did it again, I'd just replace the pump while I had it apart, it comes with a new pulley spring tensioner gizmo.
  8. Meaning no fun with the skinny pedal.
  9. Putting the 4.0 in your 86 is a pretty big project. How badly was the 87 rolled? You'll need the whole front clip basically. Radiator mounts, hood I believe fenders too. They lengthened the engine bay in 87 to accomodate the 4.0 You can regeaer the front axle, but the cutoff point for the D30 was 3.33 or 3.73, you'll have to get a new carrier for it to go 4.10. Might want to just consider a locker at that point.
  10. I believe you need to worry about axle strength with 35's. Ask Patrick(pingpong). I think he's got 35s. I'm pretty sure he's mentioned breaking a few front shafts on his d30 until he upgraded it.
  11. discussed in detail here http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... 696c7d2725 Scorpion is a TnT rep even.
  12. I imagine that you could use some 6 in wide stuff anf cut it out so it would drop down. Scorpion: I have a 4WD LWB MJ, but if you want someone to try out your bumper brackets I'm all over that. Ideally I would like to see brakets made that I could weld my own bumper steel to. Something like Pete's bracket, only dropped to allow the tailgate to work.
  13. unfortunately I've access to nothing of the sort. I was going to look if XJ bumper brackets were the same. See if I couldn't do something about that. I could cut brackets on a bandsaw, I'm looking at finding a decent stick welder. It would work for what I need it for, namely bumpers, and skid plates.
  14. http://www.tandjperformance.com/product ... j-cage.htm that looks like it would fit if you just cut off the rear pieces.
  15. unfortunately I don't have the stock rear bumper mounts. SOmebody put a smoothed roll pan on the back. It's welded to the bed. I'm gonna have to cut it off under te tail lights and put it back to a real bumper.
  16. well, my brake lines are pretty much shot. I was going to do a complete system retrofit on the MJ in the spring. 96+ Booster, XJ propo valve (the rear bed one is already out of the loop) and an adjustable propo valve for the back if the rear drums are too touchy, it's likely they will be, especially with the new dual diapraghm booster. That way I only have to run one brake line to the back, and have one less failure point.
  17. yeah, I saw that JP mag had to cut a cab mount a bit to fit that LA kit. It did look nice though. After I get the jeep mechanically sound with a new tranny then I need two things desperately. A real rear bumper (stupid rollpan, why PO why?) and a belly skid. Hopefully TNT makes a bolt on rear bumper. I can't find a decent one in a yard, andI don't have a welder, so I can't make my own.
  18. another reason that I'm gonna put in an XJ propo valve when I redo my brakes.
  19. Does anyone have any idea about the pinion length? I can't take the DS from the donor truck, it's a shortbed. WOuld I have to have my DS cut? That's an issue since she's my DD.
  20. yeah, and any time you ned to test something on a mostly stock LWB 4x4, you call me. I'll be happy too :D
  21. Well, if they come out with a 3" lift kit with leaf springs I'm all over that. What is TNT's future plans regarding our MJs? I'd like to see more rocker guard options available and the like. LWB trucks and rocks just don't seem to be a good idea unless the whole thing is armored. I'm planning on doing engine, belly pan, gas tank and rockers before I even think about taking it out on the trail. I gotta find a spare rear DS too, 120" wheelbase is just begging for me to bash that on something.
  22. well, I'm in OH, and they use pure salt too. I'll look under there. If it's something that I can get loose with PB Blaster then I'll do it. I'm running AT's too, but I will get some big lugged MTs at some point, so I'd like to adjust them. I occasionally rub, usually in the driveway or a parking lot.

Hey, I just saw in the tech section you're in OH. Where about's? I'm in just off 71 halfway between Columbus and Cleveland
  24. thanks for that info. I've got 3.07s now, and I'm always a gear below where I should be just to have acceptable power. I also find myself slipping the clutch a bit more than I should to keep from lugging the engine when I'm starting out on the steep hill my drive empties on too. Well, I'm a big fan of too much gear. The truck is for hualing and wheeling, not highway trips. That's why we got a car.
  25. This goes back to my finding of an 86 MJ with the AMC 20. Currently I've got 31 inch tires, and with the AX-15 5th is basically worthless until I hit 65. Will the 4.10s in this 20 be deep enough? I've not seen to much availability for gears in the 20. Have you found any? Any info you can give me is very appreciated, as are any links you've got. Sorry to be such a bother, but before I drop the cash on a set of axles I want to be sure it's what I need.
