  1. So, I got the new hose. It's definitly a better match than the hose I had. PO must have just used the BA-10 hose. I'll post a picture of them side by side so you all can see the difference. I read somewhere that they have a clutch fluid for this thing? The FSM for an 88 says there is a different PN for the clutch fluid. Should I just fill it full of DOT-3 brake fluid?
  2. are you looking for a content managed site? I see that we're already running a PHP forum, so do you want to go with a PHP site? It would make content updates easy, people posting to the ront page would never have to see the backend. I'm not sure about setting up mmber pages, but a gallery isn't tough, so maybe we could branch off that.
  3. what leaves did you get and what ind of lift would I get with them if I was still SUA? I need new leaves in the rear, and I'm looking for modest lift. 3" tops. I just want the 31's to look right, and I want a bit more ground clearance. The truck isn't ready for serious stuff yet, and I don' have the cash to do all the front end mods that the front would need going higher than 2 or 3"
  4. I've seen some threads about bulding your own leaf springs out of dakota or s-10 packs. I believe you still have to use your MJ main laf though, and rebuild the pack using donor leaves.
  5. so I thought I'd post a pic of the hose I pulled out. http://flickr.com/photos/74249553@N00/59547100/ I already re-flared the piece of tubing I boogered. So it's all ready for a new hose and new fluid. Got a mightyvac kit here. so hopefully I can do it in short order.
  6. took the hose off last night, I did booger up one of the flares, but no biggie, I've got dad's flaring set to fix it. Went to the local Napa, they'll have my hose in tomorrow morning, $18. not bad. just gotta get the right fluid and I'll be set. I borrowed a vacuum bleeder kit, so hopefully I won't have to involve the woman in bleeding the clutch. I'd hate to have to yell at her on our anniversary cause she let the clutch out too soon.
  7. that's why I emailed to confirm. if not, there's another store on there that has them for $75, and he lists the comanche in the auction. I contacted them and they gave me the manufacturer part number. I don't have it with me, but his checked out. Those also had a "lifetime" warranty on them, but I don't know how good that warranty is.
  8. yeah,I'd love to swap out axles, bu I'll be happy if I get it all back in good working order bfore winter. I did test my vacuum disco today, I jacked up one tire and trned it, drivers side turned the driveshaft, pasenger did the same. Popped it out of 4x4 and the passenger side just spun free with the drivers side down.
  9. ok, so I DO have a removable hose down there. The problem is that I don't know which one I need. I'm so frigging confused right now. I have an 87, which originally had a BA-10, but now it's got an AX-15. Unfortunately I didn't do the swap, so I don't know which parts are from the AX-15 and which came from the BA-10. I took a picture of the hose as it went into the slave cylinder. http://flickr.com/photos/74249553@N00/59180049/ If someone could help me find the right part number or tell me which hose I need I would appreciate it. I'm thinking that it's using the BA-10 hose, and that there's an adapter to make it work. That's what I've got in the photo. Man,I'll be glad once I learn the ins and outs of this truck and can stop asking dumb questions.
  10. yeah, I'm not entirely sure. I'm working on a new job, hopefully about double what I make now. So if that's what happens then I'l leave it stock now, until I break it and can go d44s or something.
  11. speedos are so overrated. and noone likes a fat guy in one.
  12. that bumper sticker is perfect. I gotta make me one of thsoe. Especially since that's what I'm doing to my MJ right now.
  13. BH: I just got what you are saying. That the hose is attached to the slave cylinder. Here's what AA has to ship. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... 38&ptset=A I need to crawl under it and look for a fitting. Unfortunately I just left it at work and got a ride home. SO I'll look tomorrow before I order.
  14. I called the guys at AA, they have master cylinders without hoses, so it must be. He's also got a comache, with an AX-5 and the 2.5 He said he's replaced his before. hopefully they're similar. It's sweet having a parts guy with the same truck.
  15. man, if you get me a working AX-15 for $89 I'll make the trip down! My grandma lives in stuebenville. It's just across the river. I could pick up there. SHe'd be thrilled to haveme come anyway, just don't tell her it's for jeep parts. The case on mine is good. It's just the input shaft bearing.
  16. linkl http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WHEEL-BE ... enameZWD1V 2 yr/24K mile warranty
  17. ebays your friend. I've got the page bookmarked at work. I just searched for cherokee wheel hub It's a guy with an ebay store, they had a warranty.
  18. unfortunately she's not quite ready for serious dirt. I've got a laundry list of thngs to do. Clutch Hose line broke today. Wheel bearings are shot AX-15 needs rebuilt Electrical system is in disrepair, I figure about 2 weekends to make everything work right again. I hope to have it trail ready with maybe a little bit of lift next summer
  19. advance auto sells just the bearings and cones. That's also where some of the confusion came from. I'll just order the new hubs, I found a wholesaler that has them for $55 a pop. So 110 to do both sides isn't bad
  20. So, I was going to order a set of cherokee hubs. I went to order them and asked the guy if they would work on my 87 Comanche with a d30 upfront, he told me that I didn't need the whole hub assembly and I should have regular tapered bearings that don't need pressed in. I see that advance auto has the tapered bearing. Problem is that I know some of the drivetrain has been replaced by a PO. Obiously since I have an AX-15. Is there any way for me to tell based on the outside of the hub, or just with the axle nut off? I don't want to take it apart and have the wrong parts. Its a d30 with vacuum disco. I've not had the rotors off to look at the face off the hubs.
  21. that's what I figured should happen. That was the plan, just needed a second opinion.
  22. so, It seems as if I've got myself a leak in the hose going from my master cylinder to my slave cylinder. Advance auto says they've got the hose. Do I just need some flare end wrenchs and an hour to swap it out and bleed the clutch?
  23. so what's the best way for me to figure out if the front disco on my d30 is working? It's the vacuum operated jobby. If I jacked up the front and put it in 4WD and tried to turn a front wheel would I be able to feel the difference between 4 and 2? Or is there just a way I can look at it and see if it's working?
  24. so, I had an odd high speed cutout problem. I'm pretty sure now that it was the fuel pump. Problem is that I went "hell or high water" with it last night. I held my foot to the floor after it started bucking to see what would happen. She didn't like that, what ended up happening was me killing the motor, and having it towed to the house. So now it doesn't start. Here's the run down. In the past 2 weeks I've replaced all th tune up items. Cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air fuel and oil. Last night I replaced the o2 sensor. I'm pretty sure that I've cooked something in the fuel pump circuit. If I turn on the key I get no noise from the tank. I also don't hear the relays click under the hood. I also smelled the smell of burnt electrical components in the battery area last night. Which fusible link powers the fuel pump? I know the motor has spark, I get spark from the ignition module to the center of the cap.
  25. Yeah, I've not made it ot to the yard yet to examine it. As long as the retainer ring measures up then I'm set. Unfortunately I broke Mary Jane tonight, I think I burnt a fusible link from the starter relay to the fuel pump relays. I got no fuel pump noise at KO.
