ZJ "mini" overhead console
jtdesigns replied to Car RamRod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Fixed your link, but the pictures didnt come up for me.. <> -
Its what you could call a reverse compression test.. instead of turning the engine over to get compression you introduce compression into the cyl.. (air pressure) then hold that pressure over time and see if any pressure is lost.. Good way to test valve seals, seats, and rings.. You can get the tester online or you could barrow it from a shop.. I think harbor freight has them ,,I know northern tool has them, for a decent price..

I've used it before.. works like a charm on surface rust.. Never used it on bad rust though.. Its a wipe on rinse off thing. -

I've never heard of Brad Penn oils.. Is that American pumped oil? Is there oil in PA like what you'd see in Texas?? -
yeah,, if its rings the plugs will look like there covered in oil, soot, or carbon. You can check the oil and see if its milky, the oil fil cap for the same, if coolant is leaking into the cyl the coolants fluid level will be down.. you can hold a piece of cardboard up to the exhaust tip while running and see if you get any condensation.. They make a test kit for the coolant that tells if the fluid has exhaust fumes present , but the Jeeps system is closed, so I don't know if it would tell you anything.. EDIT: I just read where your losing coolant so do a wet compression test and you'll find what cyl is to blame.. remove power from fuel pump and run compression test.. Hopefully its just a head gasket and not a cracked or warped head... Your plugs will help you determine what is going on too.. The bad cyl will be cleaner then the normal ones..

89' MJ (very slow build up) PICS*
jtdesigns replied to tkgibbs27's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
colors,,, metallic charcoal gray,, hunter green,, deep wine,, gm caddy diamond pearl white with a red flip,, laser blue, just close your eyes and see what it looks like in 2 years. That'll give you a color. -
That'd have to be alot of oil.. I think its a headgasket,, when it gets hot the metal expands and seals the leak... Hey dragonsfyr have you pulled your pulgs to see what they look like??
-
Sometimes you'll have that....
-
Yeah and you can forget about using it for any sand/abrasive blasting! If the price s right though, like Jeepco said,, better then nothing.. !!!
-
Or possessed!!! :D sorry, not much help with your problem, but I'll try to keep ya :D
-
I'd sell my truck right now as it sat for 2500.. and the price increases 500 every month!! :brows:
-
Well, I was gonna do all that, so guess it's not a good idea. well I miss read the auction.. 30 gal,, you can paint with that.. I though it said 5gal.. you may get away with that compressor for spraying.. just match your paint gun to ut.. get you a air and water separator and put a filter on your gun,,
-
What you going to do with it?? Not good if your going paint alot, or run da sanders, but good nuff for impacts and air rachets..
-
Thats the Jeeps sliders.. These seat, or any seat you buy aren't going to come with sliders, or rails.. You have to make them like CW did..

I'm using Rotella 15/40 and started using it in my Isuzu Rodeo a while back to help the lifters.. It has really helped and it has alot of additives that other oils removed.. I'm using a puraltor filter right now, but tracked down a source for Baldwin, which will be what I run after the next change. -
if you've had it since 87,,, yeah you've kelp it this long,... you'll keep it..

Automatic to Standard, 2x4 to 4x4
jtdesigns replied to a34upw's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my 89 has the 4x4 plate,,, and its 2wd... I'm pretty sure the holes are the same size for auto and stick too.. -
I think the 1000 is kinda the point... He's parting it out,, surely he don't think someone is going to bid on it, but they might email him saying, "Hey, I need a door!!" .. kinda thing... but I could be wrong .... :D I mean I looked at his store and his prices arent that bad for parts,so you might be able to work a deal out..
