  1. I finally have pics to post of my comanche. It's a 91 Pioneer 4.0 4x4 auto with about 5" of lift and 33's. I didnt take any pics when I first got it, which I regret because it was ugly! It was green with a blue door, black front hood, fender, and header panel. The bed had roughly a 4"x10" rust hole in one side, and a few minor spots elsewhere, but the rest was surprisingly clean. It had horribly faded paint, a cap, and mis-matched wheels, but for $600 I had to have it! Plus it had only 90k one owner miles! Anyways, within the 1st two weeks it needed a power steering pump, water pump, brakes and about one million other things. Once I got started there was no stopping and over time it got a lift, tires, ( still needs gears ), all the rust was fixed and finally paint. (the paint was a quick job from a friend) I could not find the original decals anywhere so I slapped on some sporTruck ones and called it a day. Ill probly start a build up thread, because like all jeeps, this one is far from done!!!

  5. HAHA You sound like everyone I know! 8" lift and 35''s just don't seem to look right, but I sold that truck a little while ago. I want to put up a picture of the comanche but don't have any online yet.......something you've motivated me to take car of 8) [/i]
  6. Good thing you didnt trade it in to the dealer. However, thank god for people that do, cause I got mine from the back of a dealer after it was traded in on a new car and only paid $600. It was on its way to auction when I scooped it up, and have been in love with it ever since!
  7. I ended up going to a friends lake house instead of checking out the comanche yesturday. It is waaay to hot to not be in A/C or near water, so I rescheduled for early this week. ( Hope its still there ). The cool thing though is that on my way out to the lake, I saw 4 comanches on the ride! Its amazing how you develop a 6th sense for finding these things once you catch the fever. It was also cool two see 2 of them driving rather than just sittin in driveways
  8. Tommarow I'm heading to MA to look at another comanche. Yes, Ive got the bug. Anyways, its a low milage 92 4x4 auto, but the owners werent sure if it was a short bed or not  . I assume that means its a long bed. Ill post back after I give it a good look-over ( theres alot of rust in the notheast ), so Ill let you guys know how it goes. If it doesnt go so well, feel free to let me know if anyone is selling one in the CT area. For some reason, one MJ is not enough right now!
  9. That makes sense then......."its a topless jeep thing, and I don't understand"
  10. I also have a mustang, and I don't even bother attempting the wave for this very reason. Ive received it from others a few times, but very rarely. As for the comanche, its pretty funny. I have only gotten ONE wave, since its been on the road, from a lifted cherokee. The funny part is that one time I was traveling between two lifted jeeps( YJ & CJ ) and every jeep we passed in the on-coming lane from CT to RI waved to the YJ, put their hand down, and then waved to the CJ!! Apparently the wave doesnt extend to MJ's. Its like I wasnt even there! Once we arrived where we were going, my friends girlfriend was laughing and told me " thats what you get for not buying a REAL jeep" Some people have no clue. Anyways, screw the wave!
  11. Wow, Newtown CT is where I bought my comanche from last year. Of course, $600 for a 91 4x4 w/ 90k is a little better than 5k!!! Still, its nice to see theres mint examples left out there.
  12. I should have been more clear, I ordered the whole kit, more specifically, the one w/ the spring packs. The rear isnt the issue at all, and its actually coming together fine, just pissed me off when i first opened it up.
  13. Got my rustys spring pack kit today..........without directions! AWESOME. This should be fun, considering its apart and needs to move asap. Pretty pissed off w/ them right now.
  14. Thanks for all the replys....89Eliminator, I just might copy your truck, it looks awesome. CWLongshot.....its a smaller world than u think! On my way to work last week I was sitting at the light of Hanover and rt. 68 in wallingford behind you ( not in the comanche though) but the truck looks great too  Ive seen it in town a few times and wouldnt mind checkin it out.
  15. Working on a side project now, and debating what lift to get. I would like to clear 33's, and need it out of the garage soon. The big debate was a spring over vs. spring under, and I see the advantages of spring over. However, w/o a welder and w/ time being an issue, I'm now thinking the rustys spring packs in the rear will be easier. Does anyone run them? What tire size will they clear? Any heads up before i buy ( I gotta move this thing soon). Also, any pics of anyone that runs them? Thanks in advance!!!
  16. Nice truck...I'm JEALOUS
  17. Drive it, you'll love it. Ive driven a few at auction, definatly left me wanting one. You will notice the tranny seems a little lazy when you get on it though ( I think they set them up that way so they survive behind the 6.1). Theyre not intended to be like other jeeps, more like a sports car, and thats a whooooole different kind of fun
  18. Hey, I'm new here and just bought my 1st comanche. Sorry, no pics yet, but its a 91 4.0 4x4 Pioneer. The cool thing is that it was being sent to a car auction that I transport cars for, so I was able to pick it up cheap before it ever got there. :brows: $600 and its only got 90k One Owner!!! Plans (within next two weeks) include RE 5.5 kit and a JCR offroad front bumper, Ill get up pics soon. Anyways, awsome site, think ill be here for awhile
