james750
I'm getting a clunking when turning hard left and when hitting bumps. I get wobble when i hit a bump at high speeds. the steering seems pretty loose. any ideas. I'm thinking track bar but want more opinions. thanks
mvusse
First to check would be track bar and tie rod ends, but could also be control arms or control arm bushings.

They looked ok to my untrained eyes. Ill post pics tomorrow to see and make sure. :hmm:
Pete M
Have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you watch/touch the various components. Especially keep an eye on the upper end of the track bar.

maddzz1
My MJ was doing the same. Loud clunk and loose steering. Wheel constantly moving while driving straight. my trac bar was extremely loose. tightened it and it felt like a new truck. My wife took it a couple days after i tightened it and was like what did you do to your truck? The hole in my frame bracket is ovaled out so i think i need to replace the bracket. james750
Ball joints. Brand spanikin' new ball joints are in it right now. What do i want to look for when the wheel is turned? i thought it was rather strange that the clunking noise only came while i was turning left. but maybe not. maddzz1
Go under the jeep and grab the trac bar while someone sits in and turns the wheel. When you hear the clunk you will probally feel the trac bar jump. Or just hit the nut with some PB blaster, pull the cotter pin and try tightening it.
