pingpong
More then likely since it is a 5 spdw/ 4.0 you have 3.07. If you had an automatic you would have 3.55.

Pete M
These are the rules of thumb for the 2.5L: With the 5speed manual, 4.10 With the 4speed manual, 3.55 With the 4speed auto (AW-4), 4.56 Eventually Jeep gave all 2.5Ls 4.10 gearing. Offhand I don't remember when that was. They also eventually gave up on the 4speed manual and auto.

I'm thinking about dropping in a 5-speed when I replace the clutch in my 2.5L 4-speed. How does the 5th gear work with the 3.55 gears? Can you use 5th gear at all? Does pretty well at 70mph+ with no major hills. I know beaterjeep's running 2.5/5speed/3.55 in his 88 and it hauled pretty good on the highway.
