ironhead03
Do any of you guys know if the knuckles off of a 95 grand cherokee will fit on a 90 cherokee front end? Thanks
Eagle
They should be the same parts. The break in the XJ/MJ front knuckles/hubs/rotors was between 89 and 90.
JeepcoMJ
They should be the same parts. The break in the XJ/MJ front knuckles/hubs/rotors was between 89 and 90. except the gc has OTK steering...which is better for drive angles with lift.

They had the same LO-Pinion D30 as the TJ. So the knuckles would be a direct fit as long as you watch the rotor dates as Eagle pointed out. carnuck
Brake calipers are different too!

You sure you're looking at a 95 ZJ Grand Cherokee? They used exactly the same front axles as XJs of the same year, AFAIK. Except, for some screwball reason, the ZJs were low pinion and the XJs were high pinion.
smartazz19
Yes they will work, my dad and sister have 93 ZJs and the brakes are identical to my old 91 XJ.
JeepcoMJ
sorry, i was thinking of a WJ.
ironhead03
I pulled them both apart yesterday and they look the same. The 90 front end is pretty rusty so i'm going to put the 95 knuckles ,calipers, backing plates and rotors on the 90 front end. Thanks for the replies. Well if you used the ZJ brake calipers would it be fine? Or is there axle shaft problems too?
CWLONGSHOT
Back up the bus fellas... Jeep ZJ's where 93 - 98. Then the WJ was 99 - 04 across the bpoard, the ZJ is the SAME as TJ. Its a Lo-pinion D30 and should exchange with 91and up XJ/MJ. Even work with ANY XJ / MJ D30 as long as you keep all the 95 parts from the knuckles out. The WJ is whats different. The rotors, brakes and lug spacing are BIGGER and there-fore DIFFERENT!! CW
zukidave
JKS make's a spacer that go's behind the bearing assy. to move it out 1/4" then you can use the ZJ stuff. Me and a dude at work have been looking all the jeep brake's as we're both doing up grade's and the best we can tell you should be able to swap from the ball joint's out an any dana 30 knuckle should swap out. I'll do some checking tomorrow at work but I think by swapping from the knuckle out the bigger brake's should be a bolt on

WJs have the high steer knuckle. You don't need the spacer with ZJ (93-98) brakes. But you do to run WJ (99-04) knuckles.
ironhead03
I swapped everything from the knuckles out and it seems to work. I bolted the calipers on but do'nt have the new brake pads yet but i think it will be okay.

carnuck
I'm about to do the knuckles and brakes (as well as CV axles since I get a price break at work) I scored a '95 ZJ booster from the local boneyard (and a matching new master cyl from work) and I have one of the fitting adapters so far (metric fitting on the master and std lines) I think the Weatherhead numbers are 7937 and 1441 (I'll know for sure soon) I do know I WON'T be putting in ABS for sure.
