MJ carpet

Recommended Posts

Working on my MJ interior at the present time and need some advice. Am changing to buckets with a center console and wanted to check my floors for rust.. in the process of removing carpet, floors look very clean--no rust but I noticed the padding under the carpet seems like it is wet and holds moisture.. I want to coat the floors to protect them and reinstall carpet... Should I leave the padding out or should I reinstall it. Looking to see what other owners have done

I went way over the top, its a long story so I won't get into it to much.

I used por 15 on the rusty spots, then got that dyna mat sound deadner( apartly there is a reaL inexpensive version at home depot sorry I don't remember the name) after that I laid down 2 coats of herculiner then went to a upohlserty shop and got half inch jute padding then laid the carpet.

my rigs pretty quiet except for the tires and exhaust.

I bought por for my conferr rack on my 2dr. Decided to use on the rust on my floors, but only had a dime sized rust spot and repaired it. Then used E-Dead insul on roof, doors , floors and all other panels. Works great. Now to pull the rugs on my mj . Check for rust and do the same. I'll be installing pwr/seats/w/locks . Might as well run amp power lines and new speaker wire for the rear.

I ripped the padding off then just went and bought some more at a local upholstry shop like twenty bucks to do my whole floor and it was thicker. Worked great to help deaden the sound of the cherry bomb. I sealed my floor first with bedliner. jamminz.gif

i just did my floors and here's what i did:

-sanded all the rust off and primed the floors

-sealed them

-put down a water barrier sheeting

-put some carpet padding on top

-then layed the carpet back in

worked great and i got all the materials for about $25 bucks at Lowes
