4.7 stroker.

I'm looking at putting a 4.7 stroker together and was wondering if any one on here has done it before. I was looking at the kits and they seem pretty steep. How much can you save by buying the parts seprately? Are the results worth it?

I know what you mean. My brother had his extra Ax-15 from his 92 XJ sitting in the back of his 89 XJ...then sold the 89 for like $600 I think. He seemed to have just forgotten it was in the back, even though he knew I needed it. I wouldn't have been so upset about it if he had at least charged extra for it.

I did a stroker in my WJ. The biggest issue right now is camshaft selection. Some of the stroker builds including myself had serious issues with cam wear. I had the no 6 exhaust lobe collapse along with the lifter. This had happened to a bunch of strokers. My advice would be to use a stock camshaft, springs and lifters. Use Dino's site he has a huge amount of info on there. Watch out for squelch and compression ratio. Get those wrong and you will have a detonating jeep. If you can use a 96 or later block they are stronger as jeep did some NVH reduction by a girdle for added strength

The infamous Crane 753905 with mopar springs and 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust LS1 valves. I think the narrower lobe of the Crane cam cannot handle the lift pressure

 

Ah. U B one of many, as I've seen on the Strokers forum. I used the Hesco RV-O-B w. the 1.6 intake and exhausts. 3 yrs later and all is well.

Where is this stroker forum you are talking about? I am gearing up to build a hesco 4.7 but I would like to look at other options and potential snags.

i would have to agree with bama there "Dino web site" i had my stoker a few years my self and i did the AP kit which may or may not be doing them any more. it really depends on what you want the is a golen stroker out there as well. The thing i like about these are they are plug and play with nice power/torque to go with it with no major problems with the install jamminz.gif

The best site for good I6 stroker info is by far http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/strokers/. All stroker engine builders contribute; the guys who piecemeal and build their own, and the crate engine builders. Hesco has the best rep, and they are the most expensive. They have been doing it the longest, and their support never ends. I chose them because I am closeby, and because of their rep. If you are contemplating a stroker engine, join this forum and ask questions. Check out the Titan engine posts. They are not pretty. :eek:
