88JeepManche
So i destroyed my drive shaft today. Are there any other drive shafts that will work for the rear? Does it have to be from another Comanche?

HOrnbrod
Could anybody tell me the length from joint to joint on a LWB 4.0 4x4 shaft? Joint-to-joint on a LWB 2WD w. AW4 is 60-1/4". This is about 2" longer than the 4WD version, and can be shortened. Plenty of these in the yards.
88JeepManche
so the 4wd is about 58 inches. Could one from something else work? S-10? Dakota?
HOrnbrod
so the 4wd is about 58 inches. Could one from something else work? S-10? Dakota? I was told some full size Chevy and Ford pickup shafts would work, but of course you would have to fine one that used the Spicer 1310 series u-joints and the correct 27-spline slip yoke and diff flange. You might be able to salvage these from your old shaft and get them welded on. Then the shaft would most likely have to be shortened too. After all that, I just said the heck with it and ordered a new shaft from Tom Woods since my old one with the outer rubber sheath could not be balanced. 88JeepManche
Truck was stuck and froze to the ground. I put it in gear and let off the clutch and that happened. Can somebody give me the length from center cap to center cap on their drive shaft?
james750
must have been frozen pretty hard to the ground to do that type of damage  :(
mfpdm
Here is the current oneImage Not Found Just go back to the hole it was stuck in and gas it in the opposite direction to twist it back out. :D J/K. That's the second pic on here that I have seen where the drive shaft completely twisted. Would you say your shaft was in good shape? Any rust or damage? Just curious as to factors that may cause this other than a lot of torque.
88JeepManche
The drive shaft is in excellent shape. Some surface rust but nothing that looks major. You are the second one to say that but the shaft shortened so much it pulled it out of the transfer case.
Twisty
Join the club. I believe that my LWB, Auto, 231 rear d-shaft measures 48.75" u-joint to u-joint center.
