DriveShaft

Recommended Posts

so the 4wd is about 58 inches. Could one from something else work? S-10? Dakota?

I was told some full size Chevy and Ford pickup shafts would work, but of course you would have to fine one that used the Spicer 1310 series u-joints and the correct 27-spline slip yoke and diff flange. You might be able to salvage these from your old shaft and get them welded on. Then the shaft would most likely have to be shortened too. After all that, I just said the heck with it and ordered a new shaft from Tom Woods since my old one with the outer rubber sheath could not be balanced.

Just go back to the hole it was stuck in and gas it in the opposite direction to twist it back out. :D

J/K. That's the second pic on here that I have seen where the drive shaft completely twisted.

Would you say your shaft was in good shape? Any rust or damage? Just curious as to factors that may cause this other than a lot of torque.
