Eagle_SX4 Posted Wednesday at 12:47 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:47 AM I found this on Novak's website while looking at some other parts. They are offering a 4.31:1 first gear for the AX15. https://www.novak-adapt.com/forum/d/56-new-product-ax15-4311-low-first-gear-conversion https://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/transmission/transmission-parts/ax15-low-first-gear.html Probably not worth it to most at $530, but it is good to see more parts becoming available.
89 MJ Posted Wednesday at 02:11 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:11 AM I just saw that yesterday too. I was happy to see it. It would be great for someone who hits trails regularly or tows regularly, but also likes the interstate.
derf Posted Wednesday at 01:37 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:37 PM It's interesting, right when I'm about to rebuild my AX15. But $530 is pretty steep.
pizzaman09 Posted Thursday at 02:20 AM Posted Thursday at 02:20 AM I like the idea, though I think a swap to a 4:1 transfer case would provide the same benefits to me. Even when I'm towing a heavy load on the road, the factory first gear is plenty low enough. It would be epic for crawling.
derf Posted Thursday at 04:14 AM Posted Thursday at 04:14 AM That's one thing stopping me. I'm putting in an Atlas with the 4.3. Still, it would drop my crawl ratio from about 75:1 down to around 85:1.
