Does it have to be an MJ?  Will an XJ work since it's the MJ's 'half breed cousin'? :)  This was my blonde haired, blue eyed badger hound who went almost everywhere with me in my Jeep.  One particular memory was when I was taking my grandfather out on his farm when he was 96 or 97.  She treed a pack rat and he got such a kick out of her, he wanted me to cut down the tree so she could get it.

 

I'm wanting to get another best friend, so maybe now that I have an MJ I can update this next spring.

Your grandfather wanting you to cut down the tree so the dog could get the pack rat says a lot about how much he enjoyed watching her work. I don't think the MJ-versus-XJ question matters much here — the point is the dog riding along wherever you go. Treeding a pack rat on a farm outing is a good memory to hold onto. Hope next spring brings you that new trail partner, and that the MJ has room for a crate or a seat cover.
