Installing DynaPad around the hump

Does anyone have advice for installing DynaPad around the transmission hump? It's a really awkward shape and it just doesn't lay flat no matter how hard I try. It also doesn't reach the edges. I do have a second pad so I could cut it up to fill the gaps, but I'm afraid of making permanent changed when I don't know what I'm doing.

you can do it anyway you like.  little gaps won't matter and the ugliness will all be hidden   for breanne's truck I cut the insulation into shapes that fit on the floorboards directly, aka avoiding putting it on top the frame cap and braces.  the key is that the carpet lays proper on top and the various seat bolts and seatbelt bolts are accessible.

Did you glue any of it in place?

i used the siless brand off of amazon.it was in sheets that you just cut and peel.it did a good job of quieting the cab but I'm sure it would be a mess too remove.

only enough to get it to stay put while I wrestled with the carpet (new carpet so there was a LOT of wrestling to be done )

I've probably mentioned it before, but I'll say it again just in case... it is immensely important that you be sure that all water intrusion has been dealt with.  especially the sneaky ones like the antenna grommet.

Do you have pictures of the carpet padding you installed?

Are you talking about the rubber part inside the cab? Where do you get a replacement for that? Or do you just use seam sealer?

I bought a generic grommet  fit very snug

turns out I do not.  I took a hundred pics as I did that project, but that was not one of them

Where did you get the replacement? You bought a single, not a big pack? How did you install it? Do you just pull that rubber right out and over the cable?

Cut it into pieces as Pete mentioned. Personally, I only use dynapad on horizontal surfaces so I don’t run it up the sides of the tunnel. I use a couple of layers of dynamat for vertical areas followed by dynaliner. The dynapad is phenomenal stuff but can make it hard to install carpet if you get it on the areas where the carpet has to bend or curve such as the tunnel hump. Installing dynapad around the frame caps on the floor works excellent. Don’t be afraid to cut your the shapes you need instead of trying to use it as a continuous uncut piece. Also, give yourself some gaps around the seat belt anchors, and specially the outboard ones in the rocker panels. Those are already tough to get to with just the carpet there.

I used a universal on that truck, but for this next truck I'm getting a sized unit.  I think it's 1 1/4"?  be sure to get one that is a "make your own hole" so it's a snug fit around the cable.

That stuff is quite different to Dynapad. The Silas stuff is similar to Dynamat which is typically a thin aluminum skin with Butyl or similar backing. The Dynapad is a heavy and thick insulation type material.
