Fuel pump problems

I bought the Carter p74155 pump. It is way to big and the strainer that it came with fits to loose to connect. Think I’m going to get the Bosch 69302. Looks like it doesn’t come with a strainer. Anyone know which strainer to get?

When I pulled the old pump it had no strainer.

Is the strainer rolling around, loose in the bottom of the tank?

The Bosch 69302 uses a factory style strainer. Get one that is listed as fitting your truck. It will look like this

87 2.5. I wonder if your sending unit is leftover stock for the 86’s.
