  1. When I pulled the old pump it had no strainer.
  2. I bought the Carter p74155 pump. It is way to big and the strainer that it came with fits to loose to connect. Think I’m going to get the Bosch 69302. Looks like it doesn’t come with a strainer. Anyone know which strainer to get? 87 longbed 2.5L base
  3. Didn’t want to start a new topic if I don’t gotta but can any one tell me what this is and why it seems like something is missing? Also near it are these wires that are all melted together. I’ll include a pic of the harness it goes to in the passenger side of the engine bay and point out the harness it goes to under the truck. I’d appreciate any info👍
  4. Got the tbi out and goi g to try to remove the screw today. Can anyone tell me what this sensor is?
  5. Thanks for all the replies. First step is trying to get the damn TBI out. Having a hard time getting to two of the mounting bolts.
  6. Back pinning while running yes. And I wiggled them with no change
  7. I was replacing my TPS, I removed the top screw and the tps fell off. The bottom screw had no head and a small stud left. No clue how long it’s been like that. I tried pb blaster, heat and needle nose vice grips but wouldn’t come out. Now it’s flush. Any ideas?
  8. Thanks yea it’s hard to find solid info
  9. Also, does my system have a IAC? Or is it just the ISC? Seeing contradicting info.
  10. I got a multimeter and I’m all ears
  11. Where do the sensors for the gauge go? The one I replaced is on the top of the block back driver side. Do you know a part number?
  12. Sender, Crown Auto 53005309. the rpm gauge the temp gauge and the odometer don’t work. Everything else on the cluster does.
  13. Replaced most sensors already might as well give that a try. Thanks
  14. Find it weird the bucking worsened and loss of power after the oil change and swapping the coolant sensor. Thats why I flushed and did all the work to the cooling system. Thought maybe I got air trapped or something.
  15. Ok thanks I’ll give it a try. If that doesn’t work any ideas of what to check next?
  16. I have not tried. So you’re saying once it starts to buck. Turn it off and cycle the key. And if the bucking stops it’s a fuel pump problem?
  17. Hi I have a 87 2.5l base model, long bed, 5 speed 4WD. A while back after driving for a bit it used to start to buck but if I turned it off and on it usually stopped. I then changed the oil, coolant temp sensor for the ECU and topped off the coolant. The first drive after that after about 5 minutes it starts to buck then lose power. The engine does not shut off I just get nothing when hitting gas. If I turn it off and let it sit for a while it will drive for another 5-10 minutes before happening again. I then replaced water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, all radiator hoses added an inner spring to lower hose, serpentine belt, both coolant sensors, crankshaft sensor and MAP sensor. Still having the same problem. I’m inexperienced but love the truck and have enjoyed working on it but very frustrating having nothing work. Any help is appreciated
  18. Yes it is idling very low and wills sometimes shut off if not givin any gas. It is also sputtering and bucking pretty bad especially in first and second gear. It is not all of the time though and I can’t make out any patterns on what makes it start happening.
  19. The previous owner did an engine replacement. I was told my Idle air control was bad and to replace it but when I looked it up it is an idle speed control. Which from what I can see was not on my model and I only see it on wranglers. Wondering if maybe they swapped motors from a wrangler. My truck is a 87 base model
