Fuel pump options for 4.0HO swap

First post here, sorry for the newb question, I got an 89 2.5L that I am in the process of swapping a 91-95 4.0 HO AX-15 drivetrain in. I've found out that the fuel pump is different between the 2.5 and the 4.0, and it's almost impossible to find an MJ specific 4.0 pump assembly these days.  I think it leaves me with the option of swapping to a Dakota or TJ tank, which most people do with 97+ swaps. Do I have any other options?

I like the look of the renix gauge cluster but I am also replacing the wiring under the dash with a 92’ harness, I believe this is also required to do the swap.I’m not sure how compatible the renix cluster is with the 92’ harness.

I think I read somewhere that you have to switch the polarity on the floater wires to get the gas gauge to work when using older pump and newer cluster and vice versa.

I guess I better start my build thread soon so I can share my experiences as I go along for others to learn.  I better work on my signature too, I have a 93 ZJ and a 94 XJ.

You’ll have to change almost everything if you’re going to HO swap(Minus the engine if you’re keeping Renix). But I don’t know much about those swaps. Anywho if you do, cluster, sending unit and you’ll need a speed sensor to work with the cluster.
But I think you can keep the Renix cluster and use the 92 harness as I think the speedo has its own plug? I could be wrong.

Also depends on the Renix cluster you have. 3 clusters carried over to HO. The full red and black cluster package

The 5/6 blue cluster package

and the idiot lights

The actual resistance sweep is different between renix and HO aside from being reversed. For an accurate gauge, match your sender to the cluster. The HO requires a VSS signal. You can retain a renix cluster with mechanical speedo by swapping in a 91-92 YJ VSS. It has a pass through for the manual speedo cable and your VSS wires.
