89 MJ
Is it both directions or just left or just right? I’d guess turn signal switch though.
Pete M
both. got out my spare column to experiment with (the column is collapsed which to me means it's for parts anyway) and am having a heck of a time with the little snap ring. Pete M
success! I've dug into my spare column and found some intact springs to use. now I just gotta replicate the whole process inside the truck (plus steering wheel removal). at least it's a cool cloudy day. Pete M
tore it all apart, found a missing flat spring, replaced said spring, reassembled everything, no change.
Pete M
lol, apparently I'm blind. the return cam piece is not broken, it's literally missing.

Pete M
someone has definitely been inside this column before. wires were mis-routed, pieces are missing, screw heads are stripped. good times all around. but it's back together and complete. too bad the horn still doesn't work. I'll look into that later.
89 MJ
Which steering wheel does it have? Seems to me that the two spoke steering wheels just make crappy contact for the horn button. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned it and it still works intermittently.

Gotta clean every damn contact from the turn signal switch all the way up to the steering wheel and it’s surface it slides on to. It’s stupid sensitive. (I owned my first MJ for years with no horn before discovering the wire was dangling next to it )
