Burned up wire and won't start

I was starting the truck and it would not start so I opened the hood and found this orange wire was burned up so I jumped it and now it won't even turn over

No start as in no crank or cracks no start? Can you get a picture of where the wire connects?

I think it's maybe the ballast resistor

If it's what I think it is, it goes to the starter relay

Found out my pump caught on fire in side my tank

Replaced the sending unit and it run fine now

You are one lucky SOB that that didnt get any oxygen to combust and lose you and a truck. Good catch!
