DirtyComanche
I want to try drilling them from 5x4.5 to 5x4.75. Long story. Anyways, that's 1/8 farther out. Is there enough material on the flange to get away with it?
Pete M
Can I get the Cliff notes version of the story? :brows:
Confedneck
ya see, he wants to take a 1/2" corded variable speed drill with a jacobs chuck then he wants to insert a drill bit into the jacobs chuck then he wants to, for some unknown reason, drill his hub flanges so he can run a different wheel... i believe hes putting a chevrolet rear axle in his mj and wants the front lug pattern to match, just a guess though
Regger
I want to try drilling them from 5x4.5 to 5x4.75. Long story. Anyways, that's 1/8 farther out. Is there enough material on the flange to get away with it? Without running out in the rain to the shop with my spare unit bearings, I would say yes. Your only going another 1/8 further out per side, and I would say there is at least 1/4-3/8 or more of material on there. I have rear ranger 8.8 that has been drilled out to 5x5.5. And they threaded the studs in, instead of pressing them, because there isn`t a whole lot of material that far out. You should be fine. DirtyComanche
That's what I figured... Should be worth a try. Depending if I bother. The reason is that there's a lot more NICE aftermarket rims for the chevy BP than ford/heep 5x4.5. There is some rims, but not likely what I want. And I have this half brained plan for something involving IFS eventually, and the S-truck stuff is probably easiest to 'borrow' the necessary parts from. But that's going to be depending on what my research comes up with.
carnuck
You might try putting a Chev flanged hub into the Jeep knuckle. I know a few people did it with Ford hubs so they can run the manual locking units.
