ECU versions?

Are 1988 and 1989 ECU's essentially the same? If an '88 ECU is used in an '89 Comanche would there be any issues, if so what?

The 88-90 renix 4.0L ECUs are plug and play from my understanding. Folks have claimed improved performance in upgrading to the 89 / 90 ECU.

The ECU had a re-programing change after 88.  The 89-90 ECU puts out more HP than the 87-88.  There are also differences between an AT and MT ECUs.

1987 to 1990 interchange. Just different programming. Most desirable is 89 to 90.
