Duncan Moody Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Are 1988 and 1989 ECU's essentially the same? If an '88 ECU is used in an '89 Comanche would there be any issues, if so what?
Salvagedcircuit Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 The 88-90 renix 4.0L ECUs are plug and play from my understanding. Folks have claimed improved performance in upgrading to the 89 / 90 ECU.
87MJTIM Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 The ECU had a re-programing change after 88. The 89-90 ECU puts out more HP than the 87-88. There are also differences between an AT and MT ECUs.
cruiser54 Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 1987 to 1990 interchange. Just different programming. Most desirable is 89 to 90.
