Found the perfect replacement E brake pedal rubber bumper at the local hardware store. I got 2 different sizes just in case. Figured I could cut down the taller one if needed, it would work but the other one (middle) was perfect.

OD is basically the same. Close enough for what it is.

This is the one I ended up using. Obviously don’t need an inch of thread but they didn’t have other options.

I’m happy with how it came out.

Got some floorboard patch work done tonight. Went pretty well for this being the first piece of sheet metal I’ve ever really worked with. Any of my previous “body work” has been done with a 3lb sledgehammer.

Found this whole area to be pretty far gone.

Still need to grind on it a bit more but I’m happy with the results for now. Will clean it up a lot better when I get more time. Just 20 more patches to go!

Just fantasizing at this point.

Newcomer racing has what you need... But it'll cost more than the truck just to build the engine 😵💫🤑🤑🤑

I’ve been on his site quite a few times. Lol. I have no problem spending 4-5x what I paid for the truck on the engine. Any personal suggestions for a stroker crank?

I have a list somewhere... Eagle and clegg engine both have good options. For the cam, pick the most extreme one newcomer has but it's gonna suck to drive with a manual. Should be good for around 4-500 crank hp

Nice. Great list. Thank you. Basically exactly all the parts I’ve been looking at. Lol. I’d be stoked with anything over 300hp!
I'm in construction so it’s our slow season, I’ll start spending some money on her once it picks up a little.

It's looking like the 4.0 is the new 2jz... Imagine what you could do with a billet block!

I never thought of it that way. I bet even 4 bolt mains would allow for a ton more boost.

Haven’t posted in a minute about progress, it’s slowly been coming along, finally got most of the floor pan patches done. Just on to filling pin holes now. I bought a couple pieces of 1/8” thick x 1.5” wide x 6’ long flat stock to try and stiffen the unibody internally where the floor pan meets the firewall. We’ll see how that turns out.

I'm sure that anybody that actually welds is laughing at my ugly repair. I’m not extremely happy with how it turned out, but it is what it is. No light gets through from the bottom anymore and once the carpet is in, nobody will know the difference I suppose.

After all the floor repairs are completed, I’m going to start on a roll cage. Will be my first and definitely a learning experience.

I know. :D. I will point it out every time I see you LOL.

Just kidding, because then you will point out issues on my truck, and there are plenty!

Ghosty is really coming along! I'm impressed! When are you coming over to get my Ghosty Donations? I can help you get rid of the ninja turtle instrument cluster!

I need to get back down to your place for sure. I’m working back down in Lacey this week. I’ll hit you up to see if your available!

Btw I have two 4wd AX15 cores and an np 231 j t case that may need inspection if you need. I am local (poverty bay area) so lmk.

I would possibly be interested in one of those AX15s. I’ve never been into an AX15 before but would hesitate to tear into one. Internal or external slave?

Ok. Thank you. I’ll keep it in mind. I do have a Renix truck that needs the upgrade but would really like to get away from the internal slave set up. Drives me nuts, we can’t get parts these days that last more than a year in my experience.

FWIW, I've never replaced the setup on my truck (internal slave) and I've had it over year. Could be a fluke tho

They really seem to be hit or miss. I’ve had some that have lasted a long time and the last few have crapped out in less then a year. I think anymore, the ones that last over a year are the fluke in the batch.

My last one was a LUK that lasted 10,000 miles and left me without a functioning clutch 500 miles from home. I installed a brand new AX15 from Advance Adapters and their external slave conversion kit after I limped it home. Watch me suffer here.  Of course you can convert the used trans with the AA kit or by piecing it together. I couldn't find a deal on a bellhousing, so it made sense for me to just buy the kit and be done with it.

I actually have watched this video and suffered along with you because my new Luk with 18k on it left me stranded across Washington state and ended a week long hunting trip an hour after getting camp set up. I limped it home just as you did.  Swore right then no more internal slaves. Lol.

@WranglerMangler, that was actually the first one that I have had fail, but it was enough for me. My dad bought the MJ in 1992 and it's had a few clutch replacements over the years.  I'm with ya, the most frustrating part was ending the trip, luckily it was 90% over anyway. I believe that the original aluminum slave/throwout was replaced an about 160,000 miles when I blew up the Peugeot.

I finished up what could be called “interior unibody stiffening” no idea if it will help anything or make the truck fall in half faster, but it’s done now.  Welded in a piece of 1/8” thick x 1.5” wide flat stock to the sheet metal seam between the firewall and floor boards. Went from the drivers side and ran it up over the transmission tunnel to the passenger side.

Thinking about doing another one behind the seats up against the back of the cab. I am planning on installing an interior roll cage so maybe I should just leave it alone.

Started on a “Newcomer Knock-off” intake manifold as well. Figured I may as well start on the hours of grinding it’s going to take to port the intake manifold. Will also start on the head porting as well once I get going on it.

Cutting the back of the manifold off definitely opens it up for full access to the intake runners!

I went over and did my buddy a small favor and received this as payment.
