Hot air tube

Hi, still learning a lot about my Renix. I have the stock airbox removed because it was warped....so I just threw on a cheap air intake. 

 

The "Hot air hose" that was attached to the bottom of the air box was attached to this metal tube by the engine. I've read its used for cold starts but isn't necessary and can be removed.

 

What do I need to do to the metal tube that the hot air hose attaches to? Close it off? Leave it open?

You can remove it or just leave it there. It just wraps around the exhaust manifold.

Nothing, it just is on the outside of the exhaust manifold and has no pressure

Yeah it’s literally a shield riveted on. The engine vacuum would pull air from there to assist with faster open to closed loop times.
