So was wondering if anyone that has done away with the cad and gone with the solid axle shaft, did you keep the helper bearing the split axle uses or do away with all the internals? Sorry to keep asking questions I’m sure many of you think stupid, these are my first jeep full ground up builds and I only wanna do it once. Not stupid just ignorant. Knowledge cures ignorance. Thank you guys for your help and patience!

we are literally here to ask and answer questions (and also look at truck photos).  :L:  I think I made it rule #2?

 

there are several tricks for locking the CAD permanently if you're looking for a quick and dirty bypass.  see the link in my signature. 

 

if you're going to swap out the shaft, make sure you get the bigger jointed shafts and get both sides.  :D

There are a few cad delete kits out there, not sure which is best but i believe they are all generally the same, i forget which one i used. i ordered a 97 xj shaft, ended up ditching the helper bearing, was kind of a pita to get out. I ended up using a dremel to cut the bearing cage and pried it out in pieces thru the cad opening.

Just did this a few weeks ago and did not take out the bearing. The full length shafts are a smaller diameter where the bearing is and I haven't any problems with leaving the bearing in place.

I should say only reason i took mine out is i was chasing a squeak in the drivetrain and thought maybe that was it. Turned out to be something else.
