That is a Dana 35 I believe.

Question. What is the question here? Are you wanting to know if you can swap the GM for the 4.0L? Yes you can, you need a donor Jeep to swap it in.

yup, you'll want to buy a whole XJ for the parts.

IIRC, I thought the 4.0 wouldn't fit 86/87 engine bay without massaging the firewall. I could be misremembering threads or they were wrong to begin with.

early 86s will need a big hammer whack or 2.  later 86s already have the correct firewall.
