91Pioneer
I tried pulling straight up on the shift boot but it won't release. Do I need to remove the whole console top to get the shift boot up and off? 89 AX15, full length console.
eaglescout526
Under the shift boot is a plastic retainer that holds the boot in place. Put one hand on the front of the shift boot(closest to the ash tray) and dig your fingers in the crack between the console and boot and push inward and lift up to release the retainer from the console. Then you should be able to remove the retainer from the boot and remove the boot separately.
91Pioneer
Thanks, that worked great! Now I discovered both shift boots I can't normally see are also ripped. Yay, all 3 shift boots ripped! LOL
eaglescout526
Here’s a bomb. Irreplaceable cab boot that’s screwed to the floor. But the top one can be had.

I tried this. never got mine to fit in any way shape or form. Even ordered genuine too and ended up destroying it. Went the 97-01 route and that just doesnt fit, Chrysler made it an oval for some reason.

I installed mine in 2015/16 and it lasted until this year....I figure 7 years for a piece of rubber isn't too bad.
