Muncher
Starting on the 2.1l I just picked up. Not a huge diesel mechanic I daily one but here is it cranking with some starter fluid. Smoked out the garage but never fires. Also dosent sound the happiest after sitting for a while. What do you guys think Snapchat-711847434.mp4
gogmorgo
Glow plugs or anything to cycle? I'm guessing from your jacket it's not super warm in there. It also sounds a little like it's trying to pop off on the starting fluid but not getting any fuel in to keep it running. I don't know if there's an air bleeder or primer for the injection pump, but I'd be making sure there's fuel in it, you don't want to be turning the injection pump if it's dry. The squeak makes me think there might be an accessory pulley seized. It can put quite a bit of load on the starter which could be slowing down the starter. It doesn't seem to be cranking over too quickly initially.
pizzaman09
It does kinda sound like a lack of fuel. It's a diesel, so all it should need is compression and good fuel. If it's been sitting a long time, I can pretty much guarantee it needs a new fuel filter as the fuel is probably gelled.
The86manche
What morgo said. Sounds like it tried to pop off with ether but it won't actually run on just that alone. I would see if the injection pump is pumping. Maybe crack the lines at the injectors until you see fuel. Check and see if the injectors are pulsing.
