Pete M
helping a friend with her truck. don't have time today to dive deeper but I ran through the various selections only rear hazards flash only rear left turn flashes right turn is fine both front and back no parking lights up front at all, rear parking lights work. no turns or hazards at all if headlights/parking lights are turned on. doesn't even click. bulbs are all good all sockets look great good times. eaglescout526
Ford style sockets or the AMC ones for the fronts?
Pete M
it's an 88 and everything looks original up there. other than that I'm not sure the difference.
eaglescout526
The front turn signal sockets are the plastic ford style and the better ones are the early/layer metal sockets.
Andy in Pa
incandescent bulbs or LED? While running, or just "key on"? Any other weird electrical problems that may point to the 101 connector or something else this may be combined with? License plate lights work? Pete M
I know the bulbs are all stock. haven't been able to dig deeper. maybe this weekend.
JMO413
I will second the tab being gone on the front sockets.
zomeizter
Ground issue likely, verify that first...
Pete M
see, this is why I don't do technical work on my bad brain fog days. when I say "the sockets all look good", what I mean is that the ground strap is completely missing from inside the front drivers side turn signal. can't look corroded if it's not there! Pete M
front turn sockets replaced and the turns all work, hazards work, parking lights work, BUT if you have the parking lights on the Hazz/Turns go solid. soooo.... progress? tried adding an additional ground from batt to dash, but no change (it fixed several things in my 88 back in the day) next up I'm going to pull the batt cables so I can go get new ones. the old are pretty nasty and I want them gone before I dig any deeper. zomeizter
Solid as in they come on and stay on without blinking? If so, give the flasher a quick check by swapping with a known good one, and if an electronic one is available even better...
Pete M
both hazards and the turns work as they should... riiiiight up until you turn on the headlights too and then the turns/hazards just stay on with no blinking. I'm pretty sure it's a ground issue, I just gotta find time/energy to really dig in. this kitchen remodel I'm doing for a friend is sucking the life outta me.
