eaglescout526
Wait. Cab vents are worth something? Took me forever to sell mine.

Yea I know, same as how 21 slot grilles aren't worth $500. I was just surprised to see so many of them all listed around 60-
Pete M
I paid 750 for my 21 slot grille... but it came with a truck for free.
Warren99
Haha nice, I wish I would have known about their rarity more, because I swear I've seen some in junkyards before
eaglescout526
I feel like I need to make a “rare” parts list for those who frequent the yards. Damn near anything 84-86 is an oddity if it’s own as AMC was not standard with the XJ in its infant years.
Pete M
I think the list would be shorter if we gather a parts list of MJ or Renix items that aren't rare enough to grab.
Warren99
Regardless, I would use the list a lot, theres a lot of junkyards in the Atlanta area or around it. I only know of a few like smaller private owned yards that have lots of olds, I know one in Griffin that has 3 j10s, one with a basically complete interior. But the ones I go to the most are the bigger names like pull a part, gray n white, and lkq.
Warren99
So can anyone else find previous sales of the little rubber trim pieces that go on the bottom of some of the Comanche Chiefs? They also are on XJ limited trims(assuming the trim is identical), maybe more I'm not sure. But I couldn't find any on ebay, I can't even find any pics on google images of another Comanche Chief with this trim, all I see is the black decal version. Pete M
do you mean the belt rubber? I don't know if the chief ever got that.
Warren99
No its slightly different than that, I just found a pic of an 86 XLS that has what looks identical to it, but obv that would only be for a long bed and mine is a short bed 87 Chief trim
Warren99
Well it might be the same belt rubber you showed on that pioneer, but this one has chrome in the middle like the XLS.
Pete M
chiefs got the sticker package. the rubber belt trim is from a Laredo or XLS or is aftermarket.
Warren99
Hm, I wonder if the previous owner took the stickers off and added the belts. Also are you saying the belts specifically with chrome are from a Laredo or XLS? Because I swear I've seen pics of pioneers with the chrome ones. Pete M
I mean, anything can be added by the owner, but official photos show Chiefs with stickers, Laredo/XLS getting the chrome (sometimes), and pioneers getting the black rubber (sometimes). Warren99
Oh ok, I mean there is considerable bondo work on the lower portions where the rubber is, well at least where there is still metal left. I wonder if the rubber was his way of taking attention away from it, obviously if he did that much effort it would have been long before the amount of rust it has now. Well either way, a full set of Laredo/XLS chrome belts is still nice to have, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say its from a Laredo since the XLS was only on a long bed haha. Warren99
While you are here, what can you tell me about the other bigger style of trim, I think I've only seen them on Laredos. https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles/0809-nsh/1988-jeep-comanche-laredo
Pete M
Laredo was also only longbed.
Pete M
that rubber trim is from later year Laredos
Warren99
Ok cool, and I didn't know laredo was only long beds. I wonder if the trim on mine is from a Pioneer, and has been painted chrome in the middle, it did almost seem like the chrome was bubbling in some places
Pete M
ooo!! thumbing through the brochures I see that the chrome rubber trim was also available on eliminators.
Warren99
Well either way, if someone is reading this a few years from now, I have no plans of using the trim but will definitely hold onto it, so message me if your interested in buying
