Been car shopping all morning, and came across an 01 TJ for the right money. 2.5L/AX5/30-35/231, with a set of decent 31's on aluminum outlaws, A/C and 80K on it. Dealership is dead on the KBB price, too (although they started $1600 higher :brows: )

Gonna take the missus down to show her when she gets home from work today. Wasn't planning on buying anything near this expensive, becuase I haven't had a car note since 1999 and I kinda like it that way. But, it keeps calling my name.....

You should wait till Jan 2 if you can cause of the personal property thing.. If you don't own it on the first of the year you don't owe personal property tax for that yr on it :brows:

a personal property tax? what kind of b/s is that?

Pics to follow tonight, or as soon as I can get outta work here this afternoon and go pick it up....

Yeah, the PP tax is a load, but I'm not complaining too much about it coming here from PA. VA only has 4% sales tax (none on food unless it's takeout), state tax isn't too bad, and the PP tax is at 70% relief from what it should be thanks to a former governor. Actually, I've never paid PP tax on any of my junk becuase we get 100% relief on it for vehicles over 100K and a certain amount of years old, but I'll have to pay something now on the TJ. It also applies to boats, motorcycles, trailers, etc. but I don't have any of that fancy stuff :D

I'm glad to pay the few taxes we have (the roads are nice here for the most part), compared to PA. You name it, PA has a tax for it....

washington has an 8% sales tax, i don't know about the state tax. i don't even see how it's possible to tax someone on personal property, that sounds about as ridiculous as someone putting a tax on walking, i have never heard of it of the pp tax.

i would hate to live in PA then.

x2 on the ridiculous amount of taxes in pa. talk about an overgoverned state. actually, commonwealth just like VA. i moved back to va last year after 4 years in pittsburgh. i just paid my first pp tax on my car since being back, and it was a slap in the face reminder of how much i used to hate paying that bill. but then i reminded myself that $500 is about what i paid PER MONTH in property tax on my house in PA. Most of it goes to schools, which are some of the best in the country, but a lot of good that did me. my kids were 5 and 1 when I left so I never got any "return on my investment".

congrats on the new ride. i lived in richmond twice, which dealer did you get it from?

I was gonna ask you where the "steeler" came from in your screen name....now I know  (although we're gonna get annihilated this Sunday by NE, I think  ).

I actually got it from a Kia dealership, not Jeep. Went looking for a Kia Sportage, and ended up with a TJ off their used lot :chillin:

Hey, if the Ravens had them on the ropes, we've got a great shot at it if we keep it close early. And keep Willie from dropping the damn ball!

Screen name comes from my two favorite teams: UVa and Pittsburgh

Does Kia have a west end dealer now or did you get it from the one on Midlo Tpke? I lived in the west end both times I was there but worked on southside at various times.
