Has anyone done the Volvo G80 locker swap into the front Dana 30 on a Comanche. There are several old articles out there and a few YouTube videos from years past. The Volvo locker is 1/2 the cost of a truetrac and other lockers. I’ve read you do have to 3/8 inch off the left side axle shaft. Not a deal killer!

Hear many a horror story about the gov-lok lockers in those Volvos but no first hand experience. The pins engagement design seems like it could sheer off though or at least give a lot of trouble. Seems we had a thread going about these recently :dunno:

i know the Volvo guys love them for drifting, they just modify the counter weight so it locks at a lower rpm, and then stays locked. for off roading in a jeep thats not necessary due to the low wheel speeds as compared to drifting. For the climate we have in Michigan this should be the perfect compromise for me. ive researched it quite a bit, I'm comfortable with the G80 for my intended use. a lunchbox locker isnt all that great on snowy paved roads. id love a selectable locker, its just not in the budget right now.
