I hate having emotional attachment to this thing because it honestly should just go to the great beyond. Sigh. Time to get the welder and por15 out again. neohic Posted October 19, 2021 Share Posted October 19, 2021 I’ve considered replacing a whole roof on an XJ before. My plan was to pull the drip rail covers off abs split the factory seam. 89 MJ Posted October 20, 2021 Share Posted October 20, 2021 My dad and brother did this on a 59 Chevy station wagon. They drilled the spot welds on our skin along with the donor skin, swapped them, and welded the new skin on. They had it done fairly quickly and reduces the chances of warping it.
