How to remove cab vents?

Recommended Posts

Body shop is trying to nickel and dime me where they can, and now they want extra for taking the cab vents off to paint properly. They didn’t bother to pull the rear fender flares, but I don’t know if I even want to try pulling those.

Can anybody tell me how to pull the cab vents out? Ideally they’ll come out in one piece, but at this point, if they break, I don’t care, just don’t want to give this guy more money.

The outer vent just comes off with those tree clips like mentioned above.

For the inner vent you will need the bottom to come out first, then it pulls down and out.

Removal Steps

- slide the entire unit up as high as possible

- pull the bottom, you may need a flathead to help get under it but don't pry hard.  Squeezing the sides inwards can help also

- once bottom releases, the sides should follow.

- pull down and out

To reinstall

- slot the top in first

- snap bottom and sides into place.

Here are photos for reference.  The big lugs are at the top, little ramps on sides and bottom.
