Renix headers?

Recommended Posts

Thorley headers had made a few prototypes in the early 2000’s for the Renix engines it I don’t think they went into production. I was living in So Ca at the time and they used my 89 Comanche as one of there test vehicles.

Pacesetter is ok, but their fitment is a little weird, the crossover pipe barely cleared my AW4. I think they might have only used the manual when they designed it. I've also heard their QC isn't the greatest, but mine was fine and I've had it for a couple years now with no issues.

If you don't need the EGR bung, then any 4.0L header should work. I think Pace Setter make one for the RENIX of at least they did. Clifford too. I have/had both. I did pick up a Pace Setter for a TJ a month ago. They changed the design, but its different between the TJ header and the XJ/MJ header. The TJ uses the ball socket, and the XJ still has a slip fit tubes. Its different than before. Tube to tube, instead of the 'box' slip fit connector.

Are there any good exaust headers on the marker for renix? That don't have the hole for the intake heater.

There actually is not a hole in the OE exhaust manifold/header for the intake heater. It is just a collector pipe that directs heat coming off the exhaust through the tube connected to it. Stock and aftermarket Renix exhaust manifolds/headers will (or should) have 2 bungs on it, one for the O2 sensor and one for the EGR. If your state does not require exhaust emissions to be checked then you can eliminate the EGR, which will open up more options for you including a stock HO exhaust manifold which was a better design than the Renix one. That said, most any aftermarket Renix header, and even a stock HO manifold, will require some grinding or finessing and usually on the intake manifold due to interference with the mounting flanges on the exhaust.
