makoa
I just bought a Comanche and I would like to put a 4.5” lift on it. I read that the kits don’t actually have all the parts required for a lift. Any information on all the parts or methods needed to complete the lift would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks the trick is the lift in the rear. You will need 4.5” lift rear springs. Very few places make such a thing. Hells Creek or custom are some of the few options. 3.5-5” is a tough range to shoot for. Taller or lower can be obtained with off the shelf components. Flipping the stock springs over the rear axle gains about 5.5” and some of the stock replacement springs gain between 2-3”. The front is pretty much just an XJ lift. ghetdjc320
The question everyone will ask as it is really the determining factor here is: what size tires are you going to run?
howeitsdone
I just purchased the Rough Country 4.5. It comes with most items for the front and the AAL + Shackles for the rear. Haven't installed yet as it just came yesterday. I also purchased the pitman arm, tie-rod, & track bar. The non-essential, unless you plan to crawl it a bit, is the beefed up tie-rod and track bar. Although, a lot of folks upgrade to the V8 ZJ parts anyway to save a bit of $$$. Don't really need much else depending on what you use the Comanche for. And as ghetdjc320 mentioned tire size, depending on what you choose, the gearing may need to be changed depending on how large your tires are and whether you're M/T or A/T. It will need to be equal to the pitman arm drop ultimately

I was planning on running 33s, also I've read that it is more cost effective to buy individual parts instead of kits. I'm not much of a mechanic so any tips on how to do this would be helpful. Thanks for the feedback and quick response

I live in Hawaii and would like to drive it on the beach, but also use it as a daily driver. I plan on running 33 A/Ts. Do you have any suggestions on creating a custom lift kit? watchamakalit
I am running General Spring Metric Ton Rear springs with a 3" lift in the rear. Up front I have RE 4.5" springs with Core 4x4 Adjustable track bar and short arms. I am running bilstien shocks all the way around, on 31" tires. If your going to go 33" tires I would definitely suggest a regear. I have 3.55 gears and 5th gear is useless if there is a decent incline. Overall I am very pleased with the ride quality. Its a little stiffer in the rear with the heavy springs but not bone shattering. Very comfortable on road ride. I don't wheel my truck nor do I have plans to. It is simply a daily driver so I can't really speak to how the lift would perform off road.
jeepmjga
Just dealt with Alcan spring for my rears. Lew was super nice and kept me in the loop when their steel was back ordered. Pricey but worth it IMO.
