Rollbar/Overhead lighting

Recommended Posts

I've had a headache rack built for my MJ, and I want to put lights on top. The problem is, I can't decide what I want. Do I want more flood/wide lighting up top and then driving/spot on the bumper or vice versa? I think I'd prefer round lights on the bumper, (likely Hella 500s) and rectangular on the rack, but rectangular lights that are large enough are hard to find. I've been looking at the old KC lights, I love the yellow covers. The 6x9s seem too large. The 5x7s aren't easy to come by.

Any suggestions?

Edit- forgot to say this, I'm sticking with halogen only on my truck, no LEDs.

flood vs spot all depends on how you use your truck.  I went with flood on my led bar on the Libby because if I'm ever someplace where I truly need to see 200 yards down the road because I fear a deer strike, I slow the heck down.  plus I really like being able to see EVERYTHING within 50 yards of the windshield, no matter where I point my eyes. :D  not applicable when on roads with oncoming traffic of course.

I have some older 5x7 halogen 55 watt flood lights I never put on a Jeep.  Two sets of 2 lights.  Sitting new in the box for 15 years or so.  Pro Comp brand.  I'd sell them to you for not a lot more than shipping.  I'm never going to use them.

Let me know and I'll send pictures.

The wife's JK came with halogen KC lights already installed; spot on the bumper and flood on the windshield.  I didn't care for this arrangement so once they're go back on they'll be reversed.  To me, the spot lights belong near the driver's eyes and the floods somewhere NOT next to the hood to reflect back at your face.
