Looking for input from graphic designers / printers / photographers

OK, wasn't even sure what crowd to address this to, but I have this project idea and would like input.

 

I've got a bunch of these 1" x 3" metal dash plaques from Jeep Jamborees that I have attended.  Many of them have adhesive magnets on the back.  I used to display these on my dash, later on the lower part of the windshield frame in my CJ.  My dash is now stainless, and I'm running out of room on the W/S frame.

 

So my thought was to have these digitally scanned and then printed and stuck on my dash.  Perhaps printed as stickers, or perhaps printed on metal, perhaps one piece for several plaques (say, 6 or 9 on one piece), or perhaps simply printed on photo paper which I could display, but might have to replace every couple years.

 

Also considering reducing them in size slightly to better fit the space.

 

OK, I don't know if this is crazy, or completely doable, or somewhere in between.  Appreciate any ideas or experiences.

definitely doable.  there are websites that'll mail you a single bumper sticker with your image on it.  no need to buy 500.    the biggest hurdle for me has always been getting the image I create converted to a Vector/PDF file.  I don't have software to do that.

I can convert images to .PDF. I have MS Publisher at work.

But the OP doesn't have to convert anything. He can scan his plaques into JPEGs of PDFs. As JPEGs, he doesn't even need Photoshop -- those can be manipulated just fine in Microsoft Paint.

 

Greg, I don't know if you're aware that Avery sells "labels" that are one label per 8-1/2x11` sheet. Staples probably has their quivalent for a bit less money. You could print them directly to the "label" and you're all set to apply the print to the dashboard.

all my stuff is done old-school in Paint .  but in my experience the sticker store will want an image that's infinitely scalable and that's where the Vector comes in.

I know, Pete. I was specifically responding to the question about the dash plaques, hence my reference to the OP (Opening/Original Post).
