88swampedmj Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 my steering box in my comanche is pretty much shot....i was wondering if the one out of my cherokee would work? i have an 88 comanche 4.0 and an 86 cherokee 2.8v6
pingpong Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 So will a ZJ box. I have "heard" that a 3/4 ton chevy box will bolt in with "minor" mods, I am stil looking into this, cause I am going to need a better box when I swap my 60's under my rig. Patrick
Eagle Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 A box out of an old Jeep J20 truck will fit, too, and is an upgrade. The J10 boxes, though, aren't any bigger/better than the XJ/MJ boxes. Most of the parts stores are selling rebuilt J10 boxes for the J20 application.
87manche Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 there's a writup on naxja about a durango box. My brother just did it in his XJ.
holeski Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Almost any will fit, I have one out of a Chevy. You can get rebuild kits from Napa also.
Pete M Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I plan on eventually upgrading to a Durango box for my 88. Jeep on! --Pete
