If you can't buy it, make it: Cupholder

Recommended Posts

Ok, I know we all complain of the lack of sufficient cup holders in our trucks so I finally decided to make something for my full console. I took the regular cupholder and drilled out the cups with a 3.5" hole saw then trimmed it and inserted two single cup holders from Walmart, ~$1.50 each. To hold them in place I used expandable spray foam and filled with plastic putty around the outside. Since the cups are lower it has to sit further forward so I had to cut another cupholder to fill in the gap and to extend the mounting points. I painted it with Krylon Fusion I had on hand but need to find a better color match. Someone is working on getting something 3D printed so this will hopefully be temporary, especially since I need two more of these. Here are some pictures.

Its a shame the bench seat never really had anything to accommodate the same way buckets did. At least it would've been cool if the mini consoles could've had something.

I think it's easier with the bench. Justhahadhave to find a generic cup holder that fits between the seat and mini console. Years ago when I had my bench in I had one from Wal-Mart with a ratchet in it that would hold to mega slurp chips from the local fuel station.

Oh yeah I did that too. I think it was Rylee144 who did that one from amazon where he got it the lid to tuck under the seat itself. I was more referring to something from the factory.
