For those that have done, are in the process of, or have plans on paper... I want to keep the original parking brake location. I am keeping my factory bench seat. Everything else is being converted at the moment. Please post pics of your setup. Thanks 😁

It won't work in the factory XJ position with the bench seat as the handle position is way too far back.  Also you will have to build yourself a passthrough either by welding in the XJ parts, or build a bracket to support the XJ parts above the floor, and run the cable through the original MJ cable grommet.

I chose the later option on my red truck, I used the 96- handbrake but the concept is the same, just a little different mounting.  I actually used the MJ parking brake cable attachment point for mine rather than the XJ parts as I didn't have them.  It fits between the bench and console ok but at full pull, it contacts the console.  Would work well with a shorter handle, which you may have to do in your case because it barely clears the older dash, I'm almost positive it wouldn't clear the 97+ dash.

Dzimm... that’s a cool setup. I actually cut out the floor where the XJ hand brake is. I didn’t think it would fit by the shifters with the bench seat. I want to stay with a bench seat. I also want to stay with the parking foot brake on the floor in the factory position for the MJ. It’s not as practical as a hand brake for controlling decent or holding a hill.

I must have read your post wrong.  Rereading it sounds like you are doing a 97+ conversion on your truck but want to keep the pedal brake?

In that case I don't think it's possible to keep it as the steering column brace/ dash mount goes right there.  I'll go take a peak at my 97+ truck to see what kind of room you have there when fully assembled.

For some reason I was looking at doing this. I think I was looking at a ZJ e-brake setup.

Cause I had easy access, here’s some comparison shots. These came out of a ‘92 XJ and ‘93 ZJ. The ZJ lever is the same length as the XJ, just a little chunkier. Pretty well the same size, the two look like they would even bolt in each other’s place.

The big difference is the ZJ handle attaches to a cable that runs under and through to the equalizer bar, instead of being riveted to a rod that pulls on it directly. AD9CB222-7E91-4CE2-852F-7B1084BBADCA.jpeg.f0134b64ec3bfb1569a7a29bf82b3cae.jpeg
I imagine that would give it a more flexible mounting position to be reused in another vehicle.
